Well written very amusing regency light romance. Involves a woman who has had a magical figure called a sheela ma gig passed down in her family for centuries and is compelled to use it because her parents have both died recently and she is in dire straights trying to take care of her younger siblings with no source of income. She wishes for a source of support and an earl whom she has never laid eyes upon sends word that he wants to marry her (sight unseen) tomorrow; she is to appear at the church at 11:00 if she accepts his proposal. Absolultely hilarious characters (including clever and amusing pets) and most hilarious ending I have ever read. Not as much steam as I usually like, but oh well, can't have everything.

I enjoyed this book a lot, although I did almost put it down when the heroine, early on in the book, "had only one resource....The wishing stone." I am so glad that I continued. The love story is touching and some of the characters are just down right funny!
