I'm a fan of the series and I truly enjoyed this book. I thought about it like, "the bigger they are the harder they fall." Steele has been so stoic, but now that he loves Maren it's fast and emotional. (I was a bit skeptical that someone who'd been through the rigors of med school and practiced solo in the jungle would be so quick to have sex with a guy who has never really communicated with her, but I'm willing to let it slide for the sake of a great romance.) I was surprised by the reviews that said there wasn't much action. I noticed bombs, guard towers, kidnapping, beatings, snipers, guns, and helicopters, but I'm also really reading it for the happy ending.
I agree with Lana. This was the least favorite in the series. There is a lot of sex and not much actn=ion.
I like good sex as much as the next person, but they jumped into the sack immediately, and the course of "true love" ran smooth. Steele was supposed to be the ice man.
The storyline (trying not to have spoilers) is that Steele has been secretly in lust for Maren for a while, and she with him. They have sex. She gets kidnapped, he rescues her, they decide in 5 minutes they're in love with each other, etc. There were a couple of twists, but not anywhere near as many as previous books. It was pretty formulaic.
That said it was still a fun read. Just not up to the standard of early in the series. I'll get the next book, which is about Van.
