I received an offer for this book free via a Bookbub email. It was a subject I was interested in, and the cover made it look as if it was about a child, making me think it would be a quick, easy, fluffy read. It was quick and easy, but at least half of the book was young adult Tabitha/Mary and her admirers and their struggle with identity as former orphan train children, which was not at all aligned with my expectations. Aside from the difference in expectation and reality, the glaring grammatical/typographical errors frustrated me to no end. Perhaps it was just the format (ebook), but I know that with my lowly Bachelor's degree I could have edited this book better than whoever did. However, Dewey did draw me in to the story, and if I just loathe a book, I often don't finish; the fact that I did finish, and in just a couple days, speaks to the fact that the author is talented. If you're interested in orphan trains and historical fiction, maybe this is for you, but I wouldn't buy anyone a copy as a gift.
