This is the kind of book I love to read in the coldest part of winter. I saved this for just that season.

The brief history of the sailors who were shipwrecked in the arctic in the 1700s is used as a basis to describe the authors adventure in researching the history.

At the time I had ordered this book, it had been sold out in all major stores & distributors. After having read it, I cannot understand why. Not only is it poorly written, but it told very little about the four against the Arctic.
Roberts also makes more of his own achievements while belittling those of others, such as the Andes survivors. He claims that he could have made the trek across the Andes in only two days, forgetting that hiking & climbing for recreation is entirely different from attempting to climb mountains with all the proper equipment, let alone without proper nourishment.

Interesting story, but the author spends too much time talking about getting the research and very little about the actual event. But since it happened so long ago there was not much of an account given for him to go on.
