One of Trollope's best. Domestic and political life in the upper and middle classes of English society in the late nineteenth century. The cover illustration of this edition is about fifty years too early. No chapter describing hunting - as is usual with Trollope's novels - and so nobody is likely to be offended! It culminates in no fewer than four marriages, which may be a record for a single comedy. It is obvious that Trollope likes his characters to be married or get married, and that is a very comfortable concern.
