After the conclusion of Creep, I was excited to get my hands on Freak. Dr. Tao is still recuperating from her violent and creepy experience and wants to finalize her wedding plans. Jerry is still hostile about Abby slicing his neck and the scar has made him push his wife away. Not happy, but a little bit satisfied that Abby Maddox was finally caught and is serving nine years in prison for her assault on him.

But now women are turning up dead with the words Free Abby Maddox carved into their backs. Abby tells the authorities that she thinks she can help them find the killer, but she wants something in return. She wants moved to a less secure prison and she can't be tried for the murder of the swimmer who was killed. She also wants to talk to Sheila Tao.

Jerry decides to help his old partner work the case, but the killer is leaving numbers on the bodies, and it's likely there will be ten before it's all said and done. Jerry will do whatever it takes to make sure those women aren't killed, even if it means playing mouse with the woman he hates the most in the world, Abby Maddox.

Abby still hasn't forgiven Sheila for having an affair with her long-time boyfriend Ethan, and she'll do whatever it takes to seek her revenge. She obviously isn't the serial killer on the loose, as she's in prison, but Sheila and Jerry have a feeling that somehow she is orchestrating everything from her cell. But how? When more bodies are found, they finally get a clue. But will it be enough or are they playing directly into the killer's hand?

Freak is awesome! I loved Creep but Freak is the cherry on top. Hillier has really honed her craft in this page-turning, nail-biting thriller and I want more, more, more! The characters are well-developed and the plot turns, twists and leads you on a merry chase that ends with a shocking and thrilling conclusion. I can't wait to see where Hillier will take her readers next. Chilling, clever and suspenseful, Freak is a riveting read!
