This is an amazingly entertaining book. I "read" it on audiobooks and would recommend that format for anyone who has a long commute to work--the reader is brilliant, and the time will fly by!

It's laugh-out-loud funny, and the section on the Michelin guide is really fascinating.

Another of food critic Peter Mayle's humorously informative books. Travels through several village festivals, all based on food.

Pair the pages of this book with a nice glass of wine (or a sampling of cheese) and you will feel like you are experiencing the words as you read.

As usual Peter Mayle scores again with his marvelous account of eating in France. It was fun, witty plus I felt I was always smelling whatever was wafting out of the kitchen! It was also great to hear about the personalities of Mayle's friends.

Another delightful book from Mayle. In "French Lessons' he recounts his travels around France and the countries numerous gusttatory pleasures.

This book is about food - frog legs, cheese, chickens, etc. I didn't like it nearly as much as 'A Year in Provence' and it's follow ups, but it was better than 'Acquired Tastes' which was downright dull in parts. Mayle loves France and its people -- he brings them and their love of a good meal to life on these pages.

"Alcohol with breakfast is dangerously pleasant."

Ranging far from his adopted Provence, Peter Mayle now travels to every corner of the country, armed with knife, fork and corkscrew. He takes us to tiny out of the way restaurants, local village markets, annual festivals, and blessed vineyards.

Sounded like an intersting concept - French cooking and travel. I must admit that since I'm not a cook I did not finish this book. Someone who is fascinated with cooking would definitely enjoy it.

A wonderful series of stories by a British food critic who travels through France focusing on various food festivals. It's almost like being there! Well, without the pungent cheesee and quite as much wine.
