Kristen Peterson has the perfect boyfriend. Tyler is rich, looks like a model, and he has been stationed overseas for the last two years, so he's never in her way. His visits home are short and fun. Even better, he doesn't want kids. That's great for Kristen since she is facing a medically necessary hysterectomy. Kristen is the Maid of Honor in her best friend's wedding when she meets the best man, Josh Copeland. He is handsome, funny, and he gets her sense of humor. Josh helps Kristen with her pet accessories business, and they become friends. Kristen falls totally in love with Josh, but there is one problem. Josh wants a big family. Kristen can't have children and won't make Josh choose between her and a family. When she is dumped by her convenient boyfriend, Kristen decides she just has to keep her distance from Josh...

This contemporary romance was Abby Jimenez's debut novel. It could have been a 5-Star book. I loved everything about Josh and how he didn't give up on Kristen when she kept pushing him away. I liked Kristen and her sarcastic answers. They had great chemistry. But she drove me crazy with her "I love you, but I can't have you" attitude. She would come onto him, then push him away repeatedly. But she wouldn't tell him why she was acting that way. The whole problem could have been resolved quickly if she had just talked to him. I kind of wish the author would come back and re-write some portions of the story. My rating: 4 Stars.

I think Kristen has got to be one of the snarkiest heroines I've ever read, and unapologetic about it to boot. Which was fine, but she also was a roller coaster ride of stubbornness that had more to do with pride than raging hormones and bad cramps. Her constant back and forth with Josh--bless his ever patient, loving soul--drove me nuts. Halfway through, I was ready to pull out my hair. But if you stop there, you'll miss out on other important developments that set the tone for the next book (Sloan's story). Overall, it's an entertaining read (I was totally rooting for Josh), if you can tolerate the crazy drama of Kristen's I-love-you-but-I-can't-have-you-You're-better-off-with-someone-else mantra. 3.5 stars
