This was a very fast read - as in I read it straight through - because the action starts from Chapter 1 and doesn't stop until the very last page, where it runs right over the cliff(hanger) and we're stuck in mid air, waiting for the next book. In between we have the usual murder case that drags in Nikki's own pas traumat, and leads her on a merry chase about her mother's other life before her marriage. Knowing what we do about the TV series' parallel story line, this plot at least doesn't drag on for two seasons. But you still end up in nearly the same place, since the book's fictional twist is even stranger than the TV recent twists.

I enjoyed this trip to NYC, Boston and Paris, and can't wait for the next installment to arrive!

Frozen Heat is the best yet of the Nikki Heat series. However they are all good. If you like the TV series "Castle," then you are sure to love these books, so I suggest that you read 'em all! You won't be disappointed.

Hold on to your seat...A real roller coaster of a ride....IMHO this is the is the best, so far, of the Nikki Heat/ Jameson Rook books by "Richard Castle".....the body of a woman who was stabbed is found in a suitcase that once belonged to young Nikki Heat.....and now as a police homicide detective, she begins the investigation into the death of the "Jane Doe", she is brought closer and closer to the murder of her own mother, Cynthia Heat. (PS she actually does learn who killed her mother!) Loved it !!!

If you like the TV show 'Castle', you'll love this series of books. On the TV show, Castle is a writer of novels and works with the police to salve crimes. This series of books are supposed to be the novels the TV character writes.
They mirror the TV show and you'll recognize all the characters in the book although the names are different.
I suspect the 'Heat' books are written by one (or more) of the TV show's screenwriters.
