I'll start out by saying that FUGITIVE is number five in the Cat Star Chronicles by Cheryl Brooks. In Fugitive, artist Drusilla is on vacation on a tropical planet that is extremely peaceful. The locals do not allow any weapons or anyone with harmful intent on to the planet. Fugitive or should I say refugee Manx is hiding out on the planet. Manx watches Drusilla from the distance until he can no longer ignore his attraction to her. Manx befriends local slimebag ZEF (literaly he is a slimy bag of goo) living in the lake where Drusila rents a cabin to paint birds. Zef is an interesting sulky character that is hard to befrend, but he is a loyal, honest kind of guy if you can get over his crude behiviour and slimy apearence. Zef acts as matchmaker for Manx. Manx and Dursila fall for each other. Then Newts, woolverine like species show up to capture Manx. He flees leaving Duesila at the mercy of the slavers. The Captin Jack from the first fook in the series also shows up and wants to rescue Manx with her band of other Cats guys she already rescued. The slaver Newts attack the cabin, there is a big fight, the local enforcer shows up and reveals how the locals are able to hypnotize wildlife into submition, and that he and few othres can hypnotize inteligent life forms. He hypnotizes the Newts to leave the planet. Manx and Dursila get married and go to Earth that is a sancuary to cats. .... This was a good addition to the Cat Star Chronicles and I enjoyed the addition of the character Zef. Yes, he was disgusting and annoying but I just could not help laughing and caring about him. The plot was good, fast moving and erotic but the sex scenes are getting repetitive and not adding too much to the new novels. Over all I would say that this book is 4* though not a keeper.
