It's great fun to ride along with Jamie as she finds that the silent partner in her Beaumont newspaper is neither silent nor subtle. Perhaps a change of course will be on the horizon, but not before shots are fired, the dog is kidnapped and decidedly fey Beenie starts looking at girlie mags. Entertaining

Story was okay. This doesn't seem to be my favorite series from Janet Evanovich. Max from the 1st book is now all grown up, falling for a woman who is engaged to be married. Does have action & suspense.

A young lady in the south, runs a newspaper. When her silent partner shows up so do two assassins, a washed-up stripper and an insane poacher. It doesn't get any more romantic or dangerous.

Mysterious and sexy, Maximillian Holt moves into Jamie Swift's life like a steamroller. She's the owner of a small town newspaper and hes a notorious, brilliant billionaire--what could they possibly have in common? Apparently quite a lot, for besides their mutual affection for Max's airhead sister Deedee and his investment in Jamie's struggling business, they share an explosive sexual chemistry. Unfortunately, Jamie's already engaged to be married. But when someone sprays her office with gunfire, only Max can save her. Now she'll have to rely on him to sort out the tangle of embezzlement, mayhem, and attempted murder that threatens her bucolic world of Beaumont, South Carolina. But if they unravel the mysteries and manage to stay alive, is there any hope for a shared future between a cosmopolitan guy committed to tracking down evil and a small-town girl who just wants a normal life?

Authors Janet Evanovich and Charlotte Hughes have paired up to create a fast-paced, wacky novel filled with eccentric characters and southern ambiance. In the time-honored tradition of such detective couples as Nick and Nora Charles (The Thin Man, After the Thin Man) the hero and heroine trade quips and parry sexual innuendos with panache while easily deciphering clues and adroitly coping with danger. Readers will thoroughly enjoy this Jamie Swift/Max Holt adventure, the first in a new series from this author duo. --Lois Faye Dyer

Jamie Swift runs the local paper in Beaumont, South Carolina. With the arrival of her silent partner, the notoriously mysterious and sexy Maximillian Holt, Jamie's life gets shaken up. Max's brother in law, Frankie Fontana, a former wrestler, is running for Mayor. Including two assasins, a washed up stripper, and an insane poacher, this story is fun and romantic, with a fun mystery!

I enjoy these books by Janet Evanovich and Charlotte Hughes a whole lot more than the Stephanie Plum series, which I detest. This series is cute and hilarious. Workaholic Jamie Swift is engaged to Phillip Standish (a fine upstanding rich guy) when her silent partner, Maximillian Holt comes to town to visit his sister, DeeDee, Jamie's best friend. DeeDee is married to ex-wrestler Frankie who is running for mayor and has promised to stop the corruption in their small town and find out where all the tax money has disappeared to. Here is where the fun starts..or should I say the danger starts. Someone is trying to kill Max, Jamie and/or Frankie. Millionaire Max has many resources and between his money and Jamie's newspaper connections, they join together to solve the mystery. A rolicking good time is had by all (er um most).

Be prepared for a few incompetent assassins, a washed-up whiny stripper, an insane poacher and the hungry alligators. Oh and don't forget about the Maxmobile - a supped-up futuristic computer-driven porsche. The computer is named Muffin and has the husky voice of Marilyn Monroe. Reminiscent of Night Rider's Kitt only sexier and brainer! An enjoyable super-quick read.

From the Back Cover
Dear Reader:

With Full House, my good friend Charlotte Hughes and I teamed up to create an exciting new series. Now we bring you the second book, Full Tilt, which is filled with even more fast-paced action, crazy characters, steamy sex, suspense, and non-stop hilarity. While these books are not set in the world of my Stephanie Plum novels, we're convinced they will bring you all the fun, the wise-cracks, and the adventure that we love.

Jamie Swift has one priority in quiet Beaumont, South Carolina: running the local newspaper. Romance runs second. But with the arrival of her silent partner, the notoriously mysterious and sexy Maximillian Holt, Jamie's life gets shaken up. Max claims he's here to give his brother-in-law a vote of confidence. Between a spray of bullets and a fast getaway could it get any more romantic-or dangerous? Max and Jamie are betting their lives on a long shot.

Charlotte and I hope you'll enjoy reading Full Tilt as much as we have enjoyed creating it.

I was surprised to see Max and Deedee and the main characters in this book. Max is a lot like his Uncle Nick! In this book he is an adult and creating his own life with every step and very capable steps they are! Frankie, Deedee's husband, decided to run for mayor a small town and it goes haywire because there is corruption in this town. You'll never guess who the big bad is!

Jamie Swift runs the local newspaper, and is surprised when her silent partner, Maximillian Holt, shows up. Actually, irritated. She has no time to clean up the office, or to entertain the money man. Never mind that he's DeeDee's very rich brother. Or that she needs the money for improvements. And, as she has been complaining about all of this to the very nice looking stranger she just met at the party, she's sunk when she finds out who he is.
