This is the fourth book in Kate Ellis' series of police stories set in the Devon area of England. The whole series is well-written and full of interesting characters and mysteries. The main character, Wesley Peterson, is a police detective with an archeology degree. The author does a great job of mixing the modern murder mysteries in with local history of the area. This one features a search for a buried Viking treasure and is a thoroughly entertaining tale.

When a skeleton is discovered on a small farm, DS Wesley Petersonâa keen amateur archaeologistâis intrigued by the possibility that it is a Viking corpse, buried in keeping with ancient traditions. He also has a more urgent crime to solve, namely the recent disappearance of a Danish tourist. His boss Gerry Heffernan believes that the attractive Dane's disappearance is linked to a spate of brutal robberies, but is her disappearance linked to far older events?
I loved the tie in of the historical Viking story and the present time story. Murderer was a surprise and hard to guess with lots of suspects. Interesting characters and plot. Looking forward to the next book and recommend this one to those who love history with mystery.
