This is a charming story drawn from the true adventures of May Sarton's own cat and recounts his evolution from a cat about town to a gentleman cat and finally his emergence as a genuine Fur Person.

I've always loved cats but never have owned one. This story fueled my love for cats and let me know what it's like living with one.

This book has to be one of my all-time favorite books! It is a sweet cat story written from the cat's perspective and a very easy read. Though it was written in 1957, the story holds true today because cats really never change. The Fur Person starts off as a stray tomcat and becomes domesticated. He creates his rules and songs along the way which are hilarious. If you are looking for an uplift to your day and have time to read a short book, this is the one to read again and again.

The author recommends reading this book out loud. I agree. Upper elementary teachers might consider it for classroom read-aloud, even!

A lovely book and as a cat owner it really hit home. I recommend this highly for any pet owner and as a children's book also. I believe children would profit from realizing how pets and humans help one another.

I am a cat person and really enjoyed this book. It is written from the cat's (fur person) point of view and quite funny. This book is enlightening as far as what the author feels the cat's body posture reveals and the cat's thoughts on daily life.
