So normally the rule is all books have to have a few copies in the system, but I'm tired of reading those sorts of books, so I say we do one with WL books, that way when we read them we at least have a book to post that will get ordered and give us a credit. Anyone with me? I'm starting a list located here. Also I don't care how many books you put on the list but voting will end on November 14th so get to voting if you want to join in. Go ahead and add books from your TBR if they are wishlisted that's what I did. Pushing discussion to January 15th to give everyone a chance to catch up reading without as much pressure during the holidays. Last Edited on: 12/15/12 10:32 AM ET - Total times edited: 5 |

That's so true, all the really good and/or current books are always WLed here. It would be nice to do something a little meatier. |

Does anyone know anything about Discovery of Witches? It sounds intriguing but I'm afraid it would be a cross between the Historian and Deliverance Dane. Also I'm sort of taking a hiatus til Jan. I have out of town holiday guests etc. |

Love to do something different, but finding WL books is difficult for me. If I can get one, I'll join in. I can't spend any money ordering online right now, so will be using PBS or the library. I don't want to be a downer, and I really will try to find whatever is voted in. Will add two from my TBR pile I was really looking forward to reading. I don't mean to exclude anyone Carole but it was getting boring reading just books with enough copies in the system to accommodate everyone. Deb I have A Discovery of Witches on my TBR, it's the first in a trilogy I believe. It was recommenced by a friend who has similar taste to me. |

I know, Chris, no problem. I do agree that the more interesting books on my TBR pile are all wishlisted. |

Sounds good, but as I say, I am off til Jan. I'll check back periodically, but probably won't vote til Dec so I don't vote on something that I won't be reading. |

I've read Garden Spells, it's the kind of book that I don't like, but the minute I finished it I called my friend, and told her I had a book for her, because it's the kind of book she loves. |
Hey, Chris, added some others. I thought Garden Spells would be like the other book by that author The Peach Keeeper, and I enjoyed that one. I tried slogging through Game of Thrones, but just never could get into it. I still have it, if it is selected I'll try again. The Book Thief looks interesting, might have to try to find that one at the library. |

The Book Thief has been on reading lists for schools here so it's been readily available here.

Not right now, 298 on the WL for the Book Thief paperback, 106 on the WL for another edition. None posted in the system under any binding. But, I'll check the library this weekend. |
No I mean at stores and libraries.

Oh, sorry! I thought 'here' meant PBS, but you meant where you live. Going to the library today. I have heard that they might have Kindles to check out, so will see if I can get one of those too to try out. I'll probably be on a waiting list, but who knows? |

So, you know what happened at the library with the Book Thief book. I did find Discovery of Witches, so checked it out. I started reading it, even if it doesn't win the discussion it looked interesting enough to read anyway. It is pretty good so far, I am two chapters in. It is another looonngg one, though! |

Just under a week before voting ends so everyone get yours in soon. |

We need some votes, 4 way tie with 1 vote. |
I voted, I have a few of the books, and one I do not the George RR Martin book but I would buy that if it wins. |
Well for now the tie is broken and with only a day to vote left I'm sure we'll be good. BTW this is Chris for those of y'all that go by pic instead of name for ID. A friend of mine retrieved some data from an old computer for me and along with a completed first draft of a book he found this picture. It's the very first avatar I ever used for PBS. It's Larry Talbot from the Universal Studios Wolfman movie, it's also the character I named my dog after. |

Ok Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin is a clear winner with 4 votes to the next closest Book Thief which had 2 votes. By the by Amazon is offering a free month trial of prime so if you order it on Amazon from a prime eligible source you could get free two day shipping. We will begin discussion on December 14th.

Thanks, Chris. BTW, the original 1940s horror movies are some of my favorites! I have a copy of Game of Thrones, couldn't get into it before so I'll dig it out and try again. I checked Discovery of Witches out of the library, and am finding it hard to put down. Deb, it is nothing like Historian - to me it is an easier read, and a more interesting story. |

Oh, mercy, finished Discovery Of Witches and am now howling for the second novel. Just looked at it online, and it is 592 pages!! Will have to see if the library has one 'cause the WL is over 500. But it will have to wait. Digging out Game of Thrones and will get busy reading it. |

Still haven't received my copy of GOT hopefully it'll get here soon.

You named your dog Larry???? :) |

No lol his name is Talbot.

Still no book, at this point I may be missing the discussion. |
