I truly enjoyed reading this book. I found myself in many places of this book in attitude, mannerism, and spriit. Offering a godly look at forgiveness and acceptance, this book is a great read!

A lovely story, one that I couldn't help but read right away. This is the story of a woman growing up and facing her past. She also faces the future in the guise of extended time with her daughter.

This is more serious than Gunn's Sisterchick series, and very worthwhile.

A wonderful story. One that I will read again and again. About the bonds of family and the connection between a granddaughter and grandmother. Delightful.

Robin Jones Gunn always weaves a great story--this one isn't a romance but about the connections of women in a family.

This is such a wonderful, poignant book that tells the story of multi-generational bonding between the great-grandmother, granddaughter, and great-granddaughter. I especially found the story of the Grand Lady understanding why her granddaughter couldn't stomach food after learning that her father had "departed this earth". It sounds like a simple thing, but when Grand Lady comforted her and said that they "shall have ourselves some gardenias for breakfast". That incident is just a tidbit of the sentiments described in this story told with such attentive descriptions of the characters' life experiences. A seemingly single purposeful cross-country trip becomes an interesting tale of conflicts and resolutions and reconciliations. Well written and a page-turner.

I read this book because it was recommended by Women of Faith. Yet, I had a hard time getting into it and really relating to the characters. It was only ok for me - nothing I would want to pick up and read a second time.
