If you like Muriel Spark or Jane Austen or Elinor Lipman you will love Penelope Fitzgerald. Do yourself a favor and pick up a book by this very underrated author. This one, Gate of Angels, is a great place to start, and The Bookshop and Offshore are two other favorites of mine.
