I don't know how many other people judge a book by its cover. I kept putting this book aside because it just didn't look that inviting and the title was not one that made me anxious to read it. But, one day I picked it up and believe me I could not put it down. It is a great book.

I found this book to be very well written about the life of a true woman in the last 1800s into the early 1900s. She was very head-strong & always chose that which pleased her without any thought for the consequences. When the consequences finally began to show themselves to her, her wealth & social status could not give her the relief she needed from her sin. Only in facing death did she finally come to understand Who truly gives life. Jane Kirkpatrick writes wonderful stories of women that we would know little about otherwise. Her research is extensive & I highly recommend this & any of her other books.
