This is a quite scholarly book, but one can skip around and read her writings from the turpentine camps, etc. if desired. Pamela Bordelon offers an excellent presentation of Ms. Hurston's work, starting with a biographical essay. Endnotes and index.
In addition to Turpentine, I myself found Citrus Industry, and Two Towns especially interesting. She offers nice turns of phrase: "People ugly from ignorance and broken from being poor" is her succinct description of those who follow the winter vegetable crops.
