There are a lot of good ideas and things to think about in Brian McLaren's book. That being said I must admit that I did not find this book to be more than moderately enlightening. It is worth reading but not one of my "must read" religious-themed books.

This author has written many more books, and this was the first I read by him. With a title like this, one might expect this to be a controversial, enlightening book, that flies in the face of all that you believe and causes you to change your beliefs.

It didnt do any of that, it was a mild mannered book that really was not too LOUD at all. It didnt have a life changing effect, but it was calming.

It was a fast read, despite my miss giving about how it be bogged down with explanations of theology, and debates.

From what I got from this is "Love God with all your heart and love EVERYONE, of all religions, races and beliefs as you would love yourself. And relax, because we really are flawed and dont have all the answers. If we could embrace those 2 ideas there would be more peace and love in the world."
