I couldn't put it down! GENTLE ROGUE is definitely one of the best romance novels that I've ever read! James and Georgie are endearing protagonists; I fell in love with them instantly! Their story is full of passion and humor; and the love scenes are very sensual and tastefully written. You won't get bored while reading this novel. It's fast-paced, contains a good plot, interesting characters, witty dialogue, and most importantly, excellent romance! There are plenty of wonderful and lighthearted moments, as well as some heart-wrenching scenes. I especially love the repartee between James and his George. They are hilarious! Although I've read a few other Lindsey novels, most don't compare to this one.

A little slow in the beginning but definitley got much better! Couldn't put it down! James is a jealous and loving man who doesn't believe in marriage. Georgina is a loving female who is determined not to show her feelings until James does. Only through the interference of families and brothers do they find each other.
Wonderful reading!
Wonderful reading!
This book was wonderful! It started off a little slow, and I felt like a bit of a book snob not wanting to it. BUT, once I got past that and the ship set sailed, boy was I in for a ride! It was funny, adventurous, witty, and just a great, enjoyable read. We meet American Georgie on a mission to find the loser she's been betrothed to for the last six years. She wants to know what happened to him, taking the bull by the horns- she goes to find answers herself in England. In doing so, she meets the brick wall a.k.a. James Malory. What she doesn't know is that when she tries to return to America, the ship she signs up to be a cabin boy on, is his ship. But he knows! When James can't keep up the charade any longer and reveals that he knows she's a girl it's a spectacular moment to read. Although they didn't verbalize their feelings until the very end, you can just feel how each one feels about the other. What a fantastic story told on the high seas, and a happy, rewarding ending. Johanna Lindsey has definitely captured my attention for Warren's story.

Very predictable lovestory-hatestory- lovestory on and on until "I love you even though I said I never would marry or love anyone", you know the kind of story I am talking about. Shallow me, I did enjoy the story, but it wasn't very deep in development. I read it because of a recommendation for a strong alpha and bodice ripper. The recommendation didn't lie, that is exactly what it was with a sassy virgin heroine who didn't mind giving it up even though she had been saving it for 22 years. The hero was a total rascal with seduction on his mind the whole time. There was a lot of fist fights and stealing/kidnapping between her brothers and the hero. It seemed repetitive. Other books from this series were recommended to me as well, I don't think I will move them to the top of the list at this point. I might have made a mistake of not reading the books in order, but it was pretty easy to determine the previous stories.

The Malory novels are those types of books that stay with you and the characters become "old friends" This is my favorite one in the series - I have read and re-read this one many times over, and my 20 year old, at first skeptical has come to love them as well. James and George are lovable characters and appear in future Malory novels as well. I love the humor in their relationship. I would clasify this book as an "old school" romance novel - Privateer + girl disguised as cabin boy = lots of heat! But what I really love is that this is a good story with lots of humor - one that makes you need to read all the Malory books over and over again.
