I love Luanne Rice, but this one was very disappointing. I don't agree with most of the reviews I've read. Readers generally loved this book, but I never warmed up to any of the main characters. Lucy and Pell were far more interesting characters. The story line was just not that interesting and the main characters came across as one dimensional. I found myself skimming through the last half of the book. Not a book that I will remember nor recommend to others.

Normally I pick up a Luanne Rice book and am immediately hooked to the characters and the cards life has dealt them. For some reason, I could not make that connection with this book until about 90 pages in. After that point, the book went very fast and had a good story, but this was a slow starter and I almost didn't finish it because of that. I am glad that I stuck it out and saw how the lives would turn out, but if you chose to read this book, be mindful of the dragging beginning.

I have always love Luanne Rice... however, this book left me a little disappointed. It was almost as if it wasn't written by her. I couldn't connect with the characters as I normally do.
Luanne Rice knows how to show interaction between sisters bringing out the best and worst in them. This
was a great read and one you can almost apply to yourself if you have sister. Couldn't wait to see what
happens in the sequel.

A beautifully written book: a story of family, love, and loss, but especially of the special bond between sisters. The descriptions of Rhode Island are absolutely beautiful and an added bonus. One of my favorite books by this author!
This was a great story about family, love and lies that can tear families apart. It was hard to put down. Luanne Rice is a wonderful writer and great story teller. I really enjoy her books and this one was no exception. I recommend it highly, especially if you're tired of murder mysteries and silly romances.
This was a fast read because it just sucked you right in! Every character had a drama going on (which was a bit much) and the two characters mended their relationship MUCH too easily. Other than that I completely enjoyed it. Movin' on to the second book - Deep Blue Sea for Beginners which picks up the story of one of the side characters from this book.
An amazing story about 4 sets of sisters, & a group of amazing men who keep college friendship going far into adulthood when they have each become scarred, with one of them gone. And adult women who have made mistakes, but who long for healing family relationships, & make them happen. Some of the story is told through the eyes of a 14-year-old girl who is a genius but has serious behavioral problems. And we read of a dead girl who haunts a campus, who actually inspires & uplifts the living. And a mean old rich lady who makes a big u-turn for the better! I don't get geometry, but I loved this book & want to read more by Luanne Rice. Her writing is filled with imagery, irony, passion, pain, humor & satisfaction! If you love the sea, lakes, lighthouses, bridges or private schools, you'll love this book!
Another good read from Luanne Rice. This one explores the boundaries of family and especially the connection between sisters. Some of the plot was a little transparent, but I found the characters intriguing, especially the teenage girl characters like Beck, Pell and Lucy, and less so, Carrie. A good, quick, satisfying summer read.
It was a good book. Enjoyed it, quick read.
Excellent
Didn't get a chance to read it.
