1946 Essen Germany - post-war German perspective. Clara Falkenberg, âIron Frauleinâ, is hunted by British Captain Fenshaw for war crimes. Clara is looking for her best friend, Elisa, and her son, Willy. Jakob Relling is also looking for Elisa and bans together with Clara. Well-researched book about family secrets, guilt, forgiveness & justice. Complex characters & well-paced plot. Thoroughly engaging. Recommend to historical fiction lovers. 4/20
