The other night I ordered seeds and plants online for the veggie garden in the spring. I am very excited to get them and start soon. I got asparagus, strawberries and raspberries, onions and garlic plants/sets. Now all I need is for my husband to fill in the giant hole in our yard and build the other garden bed, and get a load of dirt & compost. |

Good luck! Fresh asparagus is definitely worth getting a bed going. Now why we have rows of weedy raspberry bushes in the middle of our yard is another question! (I'm sure you'll do better) Have you considered chives? They are nice and bloom too. |

I have an berb garden of sorts already...the chives have been there for sooo long and the orgegnao is almost wild...every spring I need to cut it back to half. I did asparagus a few years ago, still only get about 1/2 doz or so stalks, that is why I am added more this year, I got a blue/purpley variety.

Our asparagus for the past few years has done wonderful. If I remember right
it took three years to really start getting enough to enjoy. I am sooo ready
to get to work, but that's a long way off. We can't plant here till the end
of May.

I can get the cold tolarant crops in like spinach, lettuce and peas in maybe by the end of March (if we have a warm March); everything else will have to wait till mid to end of May |
