Originally issued as one of the monthly series books back in the day, this cover is a reissue. Story is so funny! This was the first book I ever read from J.Crusie and influenced me to buy more of her books. The main characters are as stumbling and confused and yet manage to find each other. I love the dogs too:) Early effort from a talented writer, worth reading.

This is without a doubt the funniest book I've ever read. I laughed until I cried! A definite keeper!

A super fun read. You can definately see where Crusie is going with this book, toward her later, suspense filled books.

I got this book and started laughing in about 4 pages. I can truly say that the book is one of the most funny ones I have read. The HERO- bless his heart- is a hardened cop of many years on the force and he is TOAST. The heroine is truly like some people that I have met- she is here ---but she isn't on the same page as the rest of us. BUT- the journey of these 2 wonderful, complicated, confused, lonely people into a couple is the journey that "Murphy's Law" couldn't have done. She- little 105# lady- gives him a concussion, busts his lip- calls the law on him--- I am laughing so hard now---You have to read it.
Enjoy- I give this on scale of 1 to 10. a 500!!!

Lucy Savage is not having a good week.
Her cheating husband, Bradley, lobbed the final insult when he stood her up in divorce court. A dye job gone wrong has left her hair green. And someone is trying to kill her. To top it off, sexy cop Zack Warren is certain the very same man Lucy is trying to wash right out of her hair is the same Bradley he wants to arrest for embezzlement.
When someone shoots at her and then her car blows up, Zack decides she needs twenty-four-hour police protection. Next thing Lucy knows, Zack has moved in to her big Victorian house, making them both sleepless . . . and not just from things that go bump in the night!

Unfortunately, this was the least immaginative book by Cruisie I've ever read. The plot was flat - characters, plot, and narrative were entirely too predictable. I usually love her humor and character development, but was very disappointed by this one.
HOWEVER, if you like the Stephanie Plum series...you'll feel a little better with the storyline.

This book is a "feel good" laugh while reading, short easy story. Any thing from Jennifer Crusie is worth reading. Always sastified with this author.

A fun, light romantic read with great mystery twist.

Another great one from Jennifer Crusie. I finished this in one sitting, and I'm beginning to wonder if she'll ever write a book that I don't.

A no-show ex, a hunky cop, and assorted dogs enliven this Crusie romp. The "maguffin" is pretty obvious early on, but it's fun to watch the characters figure it out.

Light, funny romance. A nice, quick read.

OK for a quick LITE read, but vert cutesy and simple.
Cute, but not my favorite Crusie book. I loved "Faking It." Still, fans of Crusie would enjoy this one. Quick read.
I read this years ago, and I usually don't read romance novels, but this was fantastic, and I laughed a ton. Definately a great read!
Great book, I like the humor.
Soooo funny and cute!!!
Nice, quick read. I really like Jennifer Crusie, this book was short but was very good.
Fun,quick read with interesting characters.
Another great Jennifer Crusie book!! Funny and cute - the characters will hook you in and have you smiling and wishing for more. I couldn't put it down. Great read!!
This book was ultra lite and funny, but a bit too unbelievable to me. I still enjoyed it though and it was a nice quick read.
Not a bad story. Cute, quick and an easy afternoon read.
This book was really good. I would recommended all her books
Yummy sexy fun with Jennifer Crusie, you really can't go wrong!
Cute, funny and fun. Good, quick read.
Always enjoy reading Jennifer Crusie books
Anyone that likes light comedy, mixed with suspense and romance, will love this book. It has a cast of characters including the heroine, her sister, the hero/cop, his partner, the ex-husband, the dogs, and many others that stand out with distinct personalities and wittiness. The book is similar in feel to the Stephanie Plum/Janet Evanovich book series, except with more character development because the entire change for the characters takes place in one book rather than a series. Recommended, light/fun read. As the other reviewers indicated, the first chapter or two are the weakest, then picks up pace and romance quotient.
The only thing I would say about this hardcover edition - skip the author's note at the beginning until after you had read the book, as it intrudes the author's personal life into the plot.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The writing is light, the characters well thought out and the storyline catches you early in the book and holds you until the end. I found myself rooting for the two main characters. As with all Jennifer Crusie's books that I've read, I highly recommmend.
I had a little difficulty getting into this book at first, but it turned to be a very good one. Enjoyed it very much.
The book was cute. Anything Jen Crusie writes is always cute! Not as "spicy" as her later books. Not alot of story depth either as in some of her other later books, but this is definitely worth reading to pass a summer day at the beach!
She got betterover the year as she kept writing, and as this is one of her earlier books, you can see how that writing developed in comparison to her later work.
Enjoy!!

Strange how people meet & this story shows it. Quick but enjoyable read.
This was a typical Jennifer Crusie book - a fun read! I really enjoyed the story and the characters.
I ADORED this book, it was hilarious, romantic, funny, witty...everything i love about romance novels. I love Zach because he's like ultimately macho man who has those things you love about a man and more...he's a bad boy tamed. And LUCYY!!! She's hilarious and funny and you love her personality. I love them as a couple, they had known each other for a couple of days and were already acting like they were married. This book is a DEFINITELY MUST READ!!!

~ SUMMARY (from inside flaps) ~
High school physics teacher Lucy Savage is finally getting rid of Bradley - and his hideous green recliner. In fact, her front lawn is littered with her cheating ex-husband's belongings. Because despite standing her up in divorce court, Bradley is out of her life for good. Or so she thinks.
When her sister takes her to lunch to celebrate Lucy's single status, all their talk of a no-good louse named Bradley catches the attention of a cop - who wants to arrest the very same Bradley fro embezzlement. And Officer Zach Warren figures the lovely Lucy can lead him straight to his target.
When someone shoots at Lucy and then blows up her car, Zach insists she needs twenty-four-hour protection. What does he think her three dogs and attack cat are for? Still, he insists on moving right in to Lucy's house.
Now there's danger lurking outside and in her own kitchen, bathroom - and bedroom. Or maybe Zach, who looks like a bad boy with that shaggy dark hair and black leather jacket, is really one of the good guys, and just what Lucy needs.
~ MY OPINION ~
GETTING RID OF BRADLEY was a wonderful, light, breezy, and humorous book that I would definitely recommend. Reads very quickly and in a way it almost feels like a short story.
The two main characters, Lucy and Zach, are absolutely great and the type that you would have love to have as friends. Lucy is hysterical, I loved her dogs and self-reflections, and the whole blinking gag throughout the book was funny. Zach is extremely intense and energetic and is himself also hysterical; he's perfect for Lucy and they counterbalance one another very well. Their interactions were charming and Zach is so sweet to Lucy and says/thinks/does wonderful things that just made me sigh and wish for my own Detective Zach Warren.
The supporting characters were extremely well done, especially Anthony (Zach's partner) and Tina (Lucy's sister). They both made the story that much better, that much more entertaining, and that much funnier.
~ OTHER CRUSIE READS ~
Jennifer Crusie has written some great other books, including BET ME (5 stars - FANTASTIC!), MANHUNTING (3.5 to 4 stars), and ANYONE BUT YOU (3.5 stars).

This book was rousing fun. I enjoyed every single word of it, and was really disappointed it had to end. Crusie is a genius with light-hearted, fun romantic comedy. I haven't found anyone who does it better, and "Getting Rid of Bradley" is one of my favorites (so far!). Take it to the beach, to the cabin, or sneak it into the basement when everyone else is asleep--anywhere you won't be interupted--because you won't want to put this one down until the end.
Another wonderful book by Jennnifer Crusie.
This was a very enjoyable read
Highly enjoyable.
A novel written in a lively manner by author of best-selling Fast Women.
Great book! Full of many twists and lots of good dialog and laughs. I hope some of the secondary characters have/will generate books (I'm checking now).
This author is one of the best that I have read so far. She is very funny and you cannot put the book down till its finished. You can just imagine the things happening to her main character.
I really loved this book. Great little romance, suspense book. Easy read.
Funny story about a woman getting divorced and a cop who is protecting her.
Cute, fast read.
Very cute. My husband kept wondering why I was giggling.

A typical fun read from Jennifer Cruisie. On a bad-hair day when her soon-to-be ex-husband stands her up in divorce court, Lucy meets sexy cop Zack Warren, who pulls her to safety when someone takes a shot at her. And a day later, Zack is the cop assigned to her 24-hour police protection when someone plants a bomb in her car. But can the Bradley she is divorcing be the same Bradley that Zack is hunting for a multi-million dollar embezzlement?
Lovely Lucy ahs had a tough time; stood up in divorce court, green hair, someone wants to kill her. The police send cutey cop Zack to guard her, all the time. He moves in, things happen, its funny.
Great book! I love all her books!
Very funny chick-lit mystery.
Another great Crusie book!
This is the first book i have read by this author and I am impressed. It is chick lit at its finest - a little romance, a little mystery, and a lot of good reading. I intend to read all of her work. :)
cute...love all of Cruise's books
