I really liked the premise of this book. The supporting characters were well thought out and I always enjoy a good mystery when there's a bit of paranormal stuff going on, as well as a little bit of a treasure hunt.

The main character is likeable, but I would have liked a little bit of history on her, such as how she came to be so close to Sister Rosario. I did feel a bit as though I was dropped in the first third of a book with no introduction.

I enjoyed the storyline and how she worked some true historical Sand Diego history into it. However, some of the writing was rather juvenile. Where the characters were supposed to be surprised by a revelation, there was really no need to make sure the reader is aware of it by seeming to shout out" We were Stunned!!" Um, considering the context of the chapter, no kidding, Sherlock. There are better ways to explain or describe emotions other than an online exclamation point schtick. It gets old after teh first few chapters.
The grammar was horrible and at one point, when Alex comes in, he is referred to as Eric (who is a spirit) for almost 2 paragraphs. Seriously, no one caught this?

I did not like the ending at all. It leaves you hanging for the next book, but again, it just seemed amateurish to me. I would read her second book because I enjoyed the cast of characters and I'm always willing to give a second chance if there's something there. It's a bit of a diamond in the rough, but worth 3 of my stars.
