One of the better books about current events I've read recently. The New York Times review on the front cover states"Objective and terrific...the finest historical narrative so far on the origins of al Qaeda...makes the reader want to rip the page and yell at the American counterterriosim officials he describes...and thell them to watch out." Actually, I thought he did a pretty good job of explaining the reasoning of why certain American officials did certain things, including pointing out the uncertainty of the information we had regarding the immediate location of bin Laden. If he does have an axe to grind, it is over our inability to develop our own adequate sources of intelligence and lines of commucation in Afganistan and Pakistan.
