This was worth reading. Some of his "insights" are a little out there. Some you just have to scratch your head and keep reading. Some of them actually made me go "a-ha!"

A good book in the Cahill Hinges of history series that shows how the Jews "invented" God as well as the effect of the development of their religion on the western world. Good.

This was an interesting book and a quick read. However, it felt like a synopsis of the Hebrew Scriptures. I wish the author would have spent more time discussing how the Jews "changed the way everyone thinks and feels." It seemed like he was making a great background case and then the book ended rather abruptly. Still a great primer to the history of the ancient world and the Hebrew people.

Others have written on this subject, maybe more effectively. His book on Irish Civilization had some unique insights, my perusal of this book found less.

Book 2 of the Hinges of History series. Cahill continues his excellent approach to history, specifically religious history, in his clear, concise manner. Entertaining and instructive.
