The Girl in the Road, the debut novel by Monica Byrne, is a futuristic mythical story of the journeys of two women and a bridge across the Arabian Sea, reaching from India to Ethiopia. It seems as if the book sets out to make a philosophical point, but it tries too hard and gets lost in the process. For many reasons, this was not a book for me.
