Helpful Score: 3
This is the first Christian-based fantasy I've read. I think the author had a good idea, and she was descriptive and created an interesting world along with characters a reader can like. The story line was good, but the author needs to polish her narrative so that the characters don't abruptly change directions in their beliefs. It was a bit "preachy" for me, and the characters' conversions to Christian beliefs was abrupt and not well developed. There was a bit too much concentrated angst. The author may get much better, and I would read more of her work if that happens. There were all sorts of beings in this book as well as dragons. It was different from anything I'd ever read before in Christian-based fiction. I hope that in future books she gets smoother about incorporating the Christian aspects into the story.
