I loved the three characters, two on the fatal ship The Lusitania and one in the present. Story is told blending past and present and each chapter narrated by one of the three.
It is a compelling story, the secret lives of Tess and Caroline on the ship with German spies trying to find a code that will change the war. Then we have Sarah, a writer desperate to find her next story.
This book is gripping and powerful and I devoured it in two sittings.

Excellent! Great story, great characters, well written. Sarah in 2013: author researching her family history goes to England, meets John Langford, young member of parliament who is undergoing a scandal, and gains access to his family archives to research and solve a family mystery. Caroline and Tess in 1915: onboard the Lusitania. Caroline in a troubled marriage, wealthy, trying to revive her marriage but also attracted to Robert Langford. Tess is a former con artist who has one more deal to do and she is then determined to go straight and start a new life. Their stories intersect. The mystery is good and so is the love story - both the one in 1915 and the current day one.
