Such an interesting book. Very atmospheric and unsettling. I didn't know what to expect when I started it, I think I was prepared to dislike it, but there is a charm and mystery to Hand's characters and storytelling that really captured my imagination. It is set in 1999, but just disregard the "Millennium" craze that everyone in the Nineties was fascinated with (maybe place it in 2012, that seems to be the new fad) The story follows several characters as they try to navigate life in the not-too-distant bizaare, nightmarish, psychedelic future. Thought-provoking.
