One of the problems of suggesting the imminent destruction of the world is that, 18 years after the book is published, it's rather hard to believe. The author's opening statement is "Somewhere, at this very moment, on planet Earth, the Antichrist is almost certainly alive - biding his time, awaiting his cue...." Well, the Antichrist is 18 years older now, and hasn't manifested himself (OK, you Democrats out there, bite your tongue!). It is refreshing and somewhat nostalgic to read about the enthusiasm for the mind-bending changes that happened in Eastern Europe in the late 80s.

I haven't read this book, butit seems to be very interesting! On the back cover it reads: "A drama so intense that the entire universe will feel its power is unfolding. Yet at the same time, the prospects for world peace and safety have never seemed brighter. Could this be the peace that leads to the end of human history? So many predictions about the end of the world have proved false that even Christians are affected by a what-difference-does-it-make attitude. But some day... While people are saying "Peace and Safety" destruction will come on them suddenly...Beyond a shadow of a doubt, centuries-old prophecies are today's headlines...."
