This book got to me, the amount of pain and agony, divided loyalties that we suffered is stunning. Excellent picture of the situation that the South suffered and fought thru. A little slow to start but could not put it down thereafter .... to think we are today still suffering the social results.
His Blackbirder series was excellent. This is not...it's a bit tedious and I finally gave up on it near the end. Slow moving...
