A wax doll rejected by a spoiled Southern slaveholder's daughter is adopted by her young slave May, named by her "Glory" and accompanies May to freedom on the Underground Railroad. Years later, a doll repairer recounts Glory's story (as told by the doll) to her granddaughters. About fourth grade reading level, this is a rather thin introduction to the ante-bellum South and the Underground Railroad.
