When I review a childrens book the very first thing that I look for is the artwork. Is it cute and colorful? Does it capture a childs attention and draw him into the story? Is it GOOD artwork? If all of these answers are yes, then I concentrate on the content. The reason I do that is because no matter how well the story is written, if the artwork is not good, it will not be a good book. The same goes for contentyou need a good story to tell in order to make a good book. This one has bothgreat content and appealing artwork. I was immediately drawn to the cute bear family in this storybook. It invites a child to open it up and discover what is inside. The size and thick pages are just right for tiny hands to read and turn the pages without help. Little Cub gets a lesson from Grampa about loving others and Gods love for us that is cute and inspiring. Told in a simple way that little ones can understand, this book will be a great stepping stone in teaching toddlers some of their first lessons about God and His love. This is a perfect beginner book to read to your child over and over again.

God Gave Us Love by Lisa Tawn Bergen, book review
This is the newest childrens board book by Lisa Berrgen and illustrated by Laura J. Bryant. It is a sweet story of Little Bear learning about love from Grandpa Bear. Grandpa Bear shares illustrations of the 3 types of love with Little Bear starting with a fishing trip and ending up at home with a group hug.
Great story, a little wordy for a board book which is typically for younger toddlers. Wonderful story to teach young children about human love and more importantly Gods love.

The conversation between Grampa Bear and Little Cub shares with the reader a wonderful illustration of God's love for each of us, and the various ways love is shared. It's an excellent way to share God's love with a young child. I suggest sharing the importance of repentance, in order to receive the love that doesn't separate us from God, which is talked about in this book; one should take their child's age into consideration. The bears and otters are extra cute and I love the pastel and vibrant colors used in illustrating the pages.
What an absolutely delightful children's book. This is my favorite of Lisa's children's stories so far. In a fabulous and adorable manner Grampa explains to Little Cub why and how God gave us love. The pictures are too cute if you take the time to see the side line stories and hear the slight whine and pitch of Little Cub's voice. I absolutely love one picture that sent me into fits of laughter with snowballs. *wink* I treasure this book and I am so glad I have this story to be able to share one of God's very powerful truths in such a great explanation way with my daughter. I highly recommend this book and cannot wait to get my hands on others of Lisa's children's books.
