This story had a cute and enjoyable premise, but unfortunately, it was too thin for a 384 page novel. I think it would have worked well as a short story or even as a category romance, but if you're going to write something that could be satisfyingly concluded with half the page count, I think it's a huge mistake to beat the big misunderstanding to death in order to bulk it up. I was annoyed by page 200 and downright disgusted with two chapters to go. I did manage to finish this because it's my understanding that the sequel is well worth reading, but if I hadn't known that in advance, I'd probably have tried this one and written Dare off entirely. Tedious. I gave it a C because it has a few good moments and I did laugh out loud once or twice.

This debut author shows a bunch of potential for an autobuy in my book! Wild child and tomboy Lucy has it in her mind to catch Toby and get him to marry her. Well, in the end, she marries Jeremy, her brothers best friend and her nemesis for 8 years. The story is beautiful, emotional, and very sweet. Jeremy is truly tortured, but so is Lucy, and at times shes not likable. They both have their demons and are insecure. The ending is a true reward for the two! The love scenes between the two a full of emotion, very few authors can make me feel what the h/h are feeling, and move the plot through those scenes. Even a kiss was simply magical!

I dont want to spoil, but one of my favorite parts- The Letter. Lets just say that I was reading late at night, and almost woke my husband up laughing so hard in bed!!! I enjoyed the friendship of Lucy and Sophia, her books comes out 8/25 Surrender of the Siren.

This author deserves a spot on your radar

It was cute, it was funny at times and I am definitely getting the sequel. That said, it did tend to go on and on at points. I skipped a few pages here and there without feeling that I missed anything important. The book could probably been about 100 pages shorter making it much more enjoyable.

Overall I found this book entertaining. The last few chapters dragged a bit, but not enough to make me put the book down. A promising author; I will read other books from Tessa Dare

This book could not hold my interest; I ended up speed-reading just to finish it. I was soo embarassed for the 'heroine', a young, naive girl who had set her cap for one man, that I was actually uncomfortable reading some of the passages. And that is not why I love to read.

I'm not going to lie, I have had this book on my TBR pile for well over a year now. I remember that I bought it at a library book sale and that the story looked promising but I hated the cover. I will be totally honest, I am a cover girl. I will buy almost any book if it has a great cover. There have been many a good book that took me years to read because I just flat out hated the cover. That was the case for me with this book. It was so boring and it just looked like it would be a slightly slower story once I openned it. Can I just say with this book, I was completely wrong. I adored this book! It started off with a bang and didn't slow down until I turned the last page.

Lucy Waltham has been living with her brother Henry ever since both of her parents died. Lucy is a tomboy and is completely in love with Henry's friend Sir Tobias Aldridge and has been for eight years. She has found out that Toby has plans to propose to Sophia Hathaway who is also staying at the estate. Lucy decides that she will try and seduce Toby but in order to do that she must practice on her brothers other friend Jeremy Trescott, Earl of Kendall. After three kisses Jeremy has realized that his best friends younger sister Lucy is no longer a girl but a fiery woman and he cannot stop thinking about her.

This book was so much more than just two people finding love with one another. We are able to see the growth between both characters. I was able to see the love that both had for eachother. It might not have been an easy road but they still made it in the end. I definitely recommend this book.
