A great follow up to the Silver Coin! I loved it!
As children, identical cousins Anastasia and Brenna Colby swore always to protect each other. Now that Anastasia's beloved parents have died, she has come to live with Brenna...and Brenna's father, whose raging temper has locked his daughyter into a life of fear. What is more, Anastasia soon realizes that her uncle is involved in a sinister scheme that places both young women in deadly danger. Fearing most of all for her cousin, Anastasia turns to the only help she can think of, the man who holds the reins to her considerable fortune-the fascinating, enigmatic Damen Lockewood, Marquess of Sheldrake.

Did you ever get a book that you wanted and then held onto it without reading it because then it would be over too soon? I held onto this book until I found the second, The Silver Coin, in the set. And then I held onto them both a little longer. I love reading about England in the 1800s and about the strength of women in that time period and country despite what they had stacked against them. I am also an incurable romantic. When I finally read these two books, I was not disappointed. They were wonderful. If you want to become absorbed in the characters and lives of a novel, I strongly recommend both of these books for your reading pleasure.
Very good read! Keeps you guessing.
This is the first book of Andrea Kane's that I have read. It moved along nicely to the end without a lot of angst and betrayal, but it had a mystery to unravel as well. Two cousins work to thwart the one's father in love and money. It left a bit of mystery unresolved to carry over into the Silver Coin.
A real page turner
Loved this story waiting for the next one.
