End of August, now seven months waiting list and I am still in the 400s, but the number of copies posted is picking up so the weeks estimated is lower.  Still over a year away.  But with over 200 books on the TBR including all the Outlander series, I'm good with that!

No, I only like hardcover books when they are that big.  I can wait.

September 1, and I got a WL offer today!!  Thing is, there is no note saying I got the offer from a Gold Key friend, or anything like that, but I am almost certain that there haven't been 412 copies posted or offers declined in the last 10 days!  Not going to complain, now let's see if it is accepted, we are waiting for member.  Fingers crossed!!

No, Charles, Mimi went through the system so she will get a credit.  She just posted it directly to me.

Is there anyone here who would like to talk about a book titled The Goldfinch? If so, I would certainly like to engage them in a discussion of same. First of all, What is this book about? And fo sho, I do not mean what is the plot of the book or what happens in the book. And please nothing on too long or too many characters, etc. I want to talk about the book, not your personal preferences.

I have read about 450 pages, will finish it in a couple of more days. I need to see how the author handles the whole book to say whether I like it or not. And at this point, I could use some help figuring out what it is/what it is about. My wife's niece, librarian type, sent the book to my wife, who said I should at least read some of it, promising that it was by no means a cozy. Technically speaking, the first 75 or so pages is a technical tour de force. So much, in fact, that I get suspicious and draw back to wait and see whether or not she has anything to say.

If it would help there are a bunch of reviews of the book just below on the page where it is posted. Some hated the ending some loved it.

today there are still 566 wishing for the hardcover of this book. I have a hardcover I found at a thrift store. I don't have any plans to read it for the time being but I will hold on to it in case I decide to read it later. I don't think I would post this book as it is too big to ship.

From a review of the Goldfinch:  This book is almost 800 pages long, and one of the saddest, most depressing books I have ever read. If that will deter you as a reader, then this is definitely not the book for you.

That being said, I really liked the book. It has some of the qualities of a train wreck - terrible things happen to this young man; yet, as a reader, you cannot look away. Regardless of the bad choices he makes, I care about Theo and what happens to him. This makes the almost 800 pages fly by, waiting to see if at some point, he finds peace and joy in his life.

I have a brand new hardback copy if anyone wants it, just PM me.  Have it on auto on your WL please.  I am not going to read it.  I can't take depressing right now.
