This was a decent read. I found the concept of one man holding the entire world hostage a fresh new idea. While I could have wished that Sorceress played a larger part, the book kept my interest all the way through and I would recommend this book to others.

A just okay updated version of 20000 leagues under the sea. The author thanks some members of the military for their contributions to making the story authentic but I don't think they did him any favors. The actions described, ranks, job descriptions, and career paths described were a mishmash of inaccuracies. I also found it inconceivable that military members would cheer a man who just killed over 8000 fellow sailors. The story had the potential to be good but the impossible details killed it for me.

A good fun book to read. Lots of action

Steve Alton's books are pretty much the same in concept, and if you liked any earlier ones you wil enjoy this one, too.

Oh, this was an exciting and fun read! I really do like Alten's writing - it's immediate and pretty thrilling, with all of the excitement dragged out in a suspenseful way. I liked this one more than I thought I would because military topics, technology and super computers are not really the types of things that I usually choose to read about - so much so that despite liking Steve Alten's books, I hesitated to pick this one up. But, Alten was even able to make these topics full of excitement. There was also a rather interesting political statement made throughout the book, amidst all of that suspense... I don't recall any of his other books full of this type of "message." I am looking forward to reading the next installment in the _Meg_ series, though I probably won't be rushing off to buy any sequels to this one...

U.S. stealth technology is stolen by the Chinese and used against a US warship killing thousands of naval personnel and almost starting WWIII. The race is on to find this invisible "Goliath" before further atrocities are committed. Unfortunately there really arent' any characters that are likeable. They are all arrogant geniuses with know it all personalities.
This would have been much more enjoyable if it didn't get bogged down in naval and technical speak. The storyline was actually lost to all the scientific babble (yes that is a technical term). I've read other books by this author which were much better. This was a huge disappointment.

Non-stop excitement. One of those books I couldn't put down. If you enjoy Steve Alten and underwater adventure, this is a book for you.
I normally enjoy Steve Alten's books....this just wasn't one of his best books! I really did not care for the way the characters in the book were portrayed. Found it very hard to care much about them since I found it hard to even like them.
Based on a large submarine that explores mysterious ship sinkings in the ocean waters. The ocean is full of creatures of nature and man made that make you wonder what is going on down there. Nations all over the world wonder too as the scientists search for answers. Lots of science and subamrine research facts to keep you interested too.
