I just found this author about a week ago and this is the third book I've read by her already. This book was disturbing for me, as it involves the kidnapping and murder of a small child. I also had a bit of trouble trying to keep all of the characters straight. Having said that, I still found it to be a suspenseful, intense read.

I have read almost all of this author's book and so far this one has been my favorite. In her other books I haven't been too surprised at who the killer was. But this one totally took me by surprise! Loved it and can't wait to read more of her books!

Gave 2 stars just because I don't like the ESP type of stories and this particular book is hard to see--print is too small and too light

Synopsis

A decade ago, teenaged clairvoyant Rebecca Ryan gained notoriety helping the local police solve high-profile cases. Then came the shocking kidnapping that hit perilously close to home; the first crime she couldn't solveâ"and the one whose horrifying outcome would irrevocably rock the esteemed Ryan family and their sleepy southern hometown.

Haunted by guilt since the shattering day her beloved kid brother was found murdered, Rebecca has finally made a fresh start in New Orleans. Then comes the all-too-familiar vision: Mind-numbing terror. Shattering pain. The grim certainty that somewhere, a child has been kidnapped from his bed in the middle of the night. A child who shares Rebecca's last nameâ"and perhaps, her brother's grim fate.

Back in quaint Sinclair, West Virginia, Rebecca intends to use her psychic gift to find her cousin's missing son before it's too late. But some people in townâ"and in the Ryan household itselfâ"still resent her for what her second sight did. Some haven't forgiven her for what it couldn't do. And one vengeful soul is determined that Rebecca and her family will once again pay a deadly ransom...

When I am wrong, I can admit it. I've never had a problem with that. That is why I have come to tell you that I, on occasion, am a book snot. Murder, Mystery, thriller books have not always been my forte. Although I have read them, I tried to steer clear of them because I thought they were all horribly dull and predictable. That is not the case in this book. Yes, bits are predictable, but it has so many twists and turns that he predicatble parts you can over look. So I would like to say that I am throughly enjoying this at the moment.

The main character in this book is a young woman named Rebecca Ryan. She came from an afluent family in a town in West Virginia. At a young age she was in a car accident. After the car accident she started to have visions (basically ESP). Having ESP in this family was not uncommon. Her grandmother had it, her mother was scared of it, so Rebecca came to embrace it. She used it several times to help the local law officials solve crimes. When she was 16 her little brother Johnnie was kidnapped. Everyone looked to her for solving the crime, but she was unable to because she had no visions of the ordeal with her brother. Eventually her little brother was found murdered and everyone kinda blamed her because her ESP had failed her. Not being able to take how everyone felt about her she evetually left Sinclaire, West Virginia and headed for New Orleans. One of her biggest supporters was her cousin Molly. When Molly was pregnant she went and stayed with Rebecca. Eventually Mollie returned back to West Virginia to raise her son by hereself (Molly would not tell who the father was). So we skip ahead 10 years and Rebecca is heading back to West Virginia to see her aunt who had been recently diagnosed with cancer.

Rebecca was driving down the road when all of a sudden she had a vision and wound up crashing her car into a tree. She is taken to the ER where she meets Clay Bellamy. Clay used to be one of her crushes while in high school. Clay was now an ER doctor.

Rebecca thought that the vision she had was one of when her brother was taken, but come to find out the vision she had while driving the car was of her nephew's abduction (Molly's son). So begins the hunt to get Todd back. So far 2 people have died because they saw too much. 1 person seriously injured in an attack that was meant to them, but it didn't & several scare tactics directed towards Rebecca to try and run her out of town.
