I hated this book which is a first I had to force myself to read it because I paid for it. I was bored stiff , the author tried too hard to make the main character cute...in the end she made her very annoying, immature and just stupid. Mostly, I disliked the book because the dog had almost no role in the book, they hooked you in by thinking you were going to read about this girl, the dog she stole and her boyfriend. Instead you read mostly about her family, and boyfriend and every conversation was drawn out to inane levels. IF you are getting this book because you like dogs ...don't bother he was too bored to be IN it I think he was mentioned perhaps in passing 15 times...If I could give it negative star I would
Helpful Score: 2
I am not a huge chick-lit fan, and this book reminds me why. Rena, dumped by her boyfriend (who now has someone thinner. prettier, more athletic and just BETTER) is moping around and decides to get back at him. She steals his new girlfriend's dog. What possessed her to do this is beyond me: she has nowhere to put the dog and he is destructive. But, she has to have him, and then cannot find a way to give him back.
Enter sort-of quirky family. Former hippy now Orthodox sister. Nagging mother. Remarrying father. Fixing her up with a rumpled potential new boyfriend.
Of course, she ends up reconnecting with the ex-boyfriend and then, she has choices to make. Well, really, she doesn't. There was no drama at all here. The boyfriend is a jerk.
I could have passed on this one.
