I just finished this book and I feel like I've gone on a hell of a roller coaster ride without even leaving home. WOW! This book was absolutely incredible! Every time I thought I had it figured out, Coben came up with another twist to make me question my theories or spin them into nothing but complete chaos. The man is absolutely genius when it comes to thinking up plot twists and turns to keeping the reader second-guessing.

If you like a book that will keep you guessing all the way to the very last page, then run - don't walk - to your nearest library or book store and get your hands on this book! If you want something a little more sedate and bland, then you may wish to just leave this book alone because once you start reading, you won't be able to stop -- just like when you strap in to a real roller coaster ride.

Good book!

The beginning of this story wasn't all that happy, but things really started to pick up around half way through. I don't want to say too much that wasn't mentioned in the synopsis and risk giving things away, but once passed the midway mark I just wanted to read the rest of the book through in one sitting!

I noticed some similarities between the main character in this book and the one in Tell No One (the only other Coben book I've read), and I wonder if that's common to most of Coben's books. There was also a very brief appearance in this story by a character from Tell No One, which was kind of fun. If you read them both, maybe you'll spot her too!

This is the second Harlan Coben book I have read. I previously read "No Second Chance" and I couldn't put it down, so I was looking forward to reading his other novels. I picked this one up next. I started out slightly disappointed. I thought the first half of the book was a little bit slow and I wasn't really getting into it. I just couldn't see where the story was leading to. However, the second half of the book contained lots of twists and turns and exciting moments and I couldn't put it down - I just had to see what was going to happen next. The ending really threw me for a loop, and I think that, ultimately, the story came together very well.

I would definitely recommend this book to mystery/suspense fans, and I would encourage anyone to give the book a chance, even if you don't find the first part to be very intriguing. It gets better - I promise. I will definitely be reading more Harlan Coben in the future.

This book is awesome. This is the first Coben book I've read and I'm hooked. The sense of morbid description and excellent detail and grammar make it a very captivating read. This book boggled my mind. The answers are hidden in plain sight. I can't wait to read more Coben books.

I hated, hated this book while reading it. Did not like the direction it was going, too many characters to keep track of, very few characters with redeeming qualities....etc. However, the ending took care of all that. Read with care. Enjoy.

Eleven years ago, Will Klein's former girlfriend, Julie Miller, was raped and strangled. Will's brother, Ken, the prime suspect, vanished the same night. When his family never heard from Ken again, they believed he was dead. Now Will has found proof that his brother is alive. But before he can start looking for Ken, Will's girlfriend, Sheila Rogers, disappears. Will recruits his best friend, Squares, and Julie's little sister, Katy Miller, to help him sort out the disappearances and find who really killed Julie.

WOW! This is the kind of book you can't put down once it gets rolling. There are so many twists and turns that you don't see coming. I was totally shocked by the ending which ties together all of the lose ends in the story. Don't miss this one. My rating: 5 Stars.

I couldn' put this one down---unexpected twists and turns all over the place, but logical when you look back on it. Heavy duty suspense, with characters you care about.

From back cover: As a boy, Will Klein had a hero; his older brother, Ken. Then, on a warm suburban night in the Kleins' affluent New Jersey neighborhood, a young woman--a girl Will had once loved--was found brutally murdered in her family's basement. The prime suspect: Ken Klein. With the evidence against him overwhelming, Ken simply vanished. And when his shattered family never heard from Ken again, they were sure he was gone for good.
Now eleven years have passed. Will has found proof that Ken is alive. And this is just the first in a series of stunning revelations as Will is forced to confront startling truths about his brother, and even himself. As a violent mystery unwinds around him, Will knows he must press his serach all the way to the end. Because the most powerful surprises are yet to come.

I read this book in two sittings. Then I thought about it as I was going to sleep, and I thought about it some more when I woke up the next morning. There are so many twists and turns to the plot that even though all is explained by the end, it still took more time to fully digest everything that had happened and the way the characters lives had intertwined. This is a highly suspenseful read, and a very intelligent thriller. Coben is fast becoming one of my favorite mystery authors.

It's another tale-twisting, edge of your seat cliff-hanger by Harlan Coben. In this novel, two brothers who are very close have shared one girlfriend. She winds up dead. The one accused of doing the deed takes off for parts unknown. The other stays with the family and tries to put his life back together. He does a fairly good job of it too, until his latest girlfriend of several years takes off after leaving a one line good-bye note, and his mother dies, confessing to him that his long-lost brother (gone for 10 years now) is still alive.

There are good bad-guys in here--some of which turn out to be good. And there are good guys that wind up being bad. Impossible to find out who's who until the very end.

The story moves very quickly. There's loads of action. THe FBI, helping out the street people and run-aways, and the Witness Protection Program are a part of it, too. A quick but very satisfying (and thought-provoking) story.

OMG this is one convoluted story but fantastic none-the-less! This is just no way to figure out what is going on just too many twisty turns with shock after shock. A truly spectacular mystery with unbelievable suspense. I love Will and Sheila - what terrific characters. Even the bad-ass FBI dude and the assassin are great characters. WOW what an amazing book! I think Harlan Coben might be my new favorite suspense author. Can't wait to get another one and be amazed, surprised and delighted!

What a thriller! There are so many twists and turns in this clever story that you won't know the real murderer until the very last pages. Will Klein is a normal guy working to save the homeless in NYC. But he has a tragic past. A girl he loved when they were college students was raped and murdered. The prime suspect was Will's older brother, Ken, whom he worshiped. Ken's been missing for 11 years and now Will finds out he is still alive. In the meantime Will's current girlfriend goes missing. Will tries to connect all the dots but winds up more confused than ever. What a great read!

I have enjoyed both Harlan Coben books I have read so far. The main character, Will Klein, is embroiled in solving a mystery involving his older brother, Ken, who disppeared after his girlfriend was killed 11 years ago. Ken may have been killed or he may have been the killer and disappeared. The FBI and some bad guys put Will in predicaments, none telling him the truth until the very end when all is revealed. His girlfriend disappears just after his mother dies, telling him that his brother is alive.

Once again, Coben has created a story full of twists and turns that keep you up late a night reading! I found the answers to the burning questions at the conclusion to be a little more fulfilling than some of his other books, as I am often disappointed with the final outcome after investing so much time into the story. All in all, an exciting page-turner.

This is a good book. However, the author makes the reader wait too long for the action to unfold. There are a lot of start / stops in the action and it gets frustrating. Also, the author loves exposition. This novel could have been shorter and still interesting. He also added a twist upon another twist in the story.

"The ugliest truth, in the end, was still better than the prettiest of lies." So says Will Klein, whose search for his missing and allegedly murderous brother, Ken, leaves him doubting the actions of everybody he's ever loved.
Eleven years ago, Ken fled his family's suburban New Jersey neighborhood after Will's ex-girlfriend, Julie Miller, was raped and strangled. The Kleins eventually convinced themselves that Ken perished on the lam. But as Will discovers, the facts are not so simple. On her deathbed, his mother tells him that Ken is still alive. Then Will's girlfriend and "soul mate" disappears too, only to have her fingerprints turn up at a New Mexico homicide scene. How are these tragedies connected? And what's their relationship to the recent appearance of a contract killer known as the Ghost? With help from an abused ex-hooker, a former white supremacist turned yoga guru, and Julie's younger sister, Will finds himself in a tightly twisted plot that turns on double identities and misplaced trust and that forces him to dig for the courage he was always sure he lacked.
