I thoroughly enjoyed this book, my first by this author. A great story about a woman leaving city life to move to a small Louisiana town to run a newspaper. Over the next year, she learns a lot about herself and struggles with what she thinks she should be doing with her life. When she finally stops to listen to God, the answer is not what she expected.
Loved this book, lite reading, good summer read.
On the surface, this book is a "fish out of water" story - a woman living in a big city moves unexpectedly to a small Southern town and struggles to fit in. I anticipated a "cute" story with quirky characters. This novel provides that ... as well as genuine characters with "real" issues. Topics addressed included racism/discrimination/segregation, embezzlement, and community spirit - all in just 200 pages.
The primary story line: Will the main character stay in Green, LA to run the twice-weekly newspaper or will she move on to greener pastures? The ending was predictable as this is book 1 of a five-book series, all with Green in the title. LOL I enjoyed the strong female characters and learning more about newspaper publishing in a small town.
