Found it very slow and the story just dragged on. Not as amusing as I thought it would be, or up to Laurie Graham's usual standards. You also just want to slap Wally and you cannot believe something like this REALLY happened.

What a piece of work! How an American divorcee brought havor to the Throne of England. Ms. Graham writes this book in journal form written from a fictional character's point of view. Certainly this book explains the plotting, scheming and ultimate shame that Wallis Simpson brought into the life of Edward VIII's life.
This book was enjoyable at every level. Not only was it fun to read and fully engaging, but it accurately tracks a brief period of history to give the reader a behind-the-scenes view of that history. Some readers may find the style a bit breezy but I thought it was absolutely perfect. Highly recommended.
This book is thoroughly enjoyable. I've done a lot of non-fiction reading of this period in English history. This book, a novel, follows it very closely. It is wonderfully amusing. And many of the characters were real life people and it's fun to look them up. A fun, fun book.
