Wonderful "beach read" (I couldn't put it down on my last trip to Key West) but this author writes a better character and plot than I find in most quick reads.
I fell in love with Cannie (main character) and was so sorry the book had to end.

I so enjoy Jennifer Weiner's novels. She makes me laugh as well as feel sad with the twists and turns she weaves into her stories. Her main characters are interesting and multidimensional and always learn something from the lives they lead. I can hardley wait to receive my next novel by her!

Great read. About the way a plus sized girl lives her life and how she
deals with being plus. For people like me who are plus sized it gives the
way you can deal with your body and learn to love it.

Seems like an easy beach read at first, but you'll find yourself sucked this compelling story of how one woman searches to find peace with her true self. Rich, complex, and funny.

This was the first book I've read by Jennifer Weiner. I enjoyed it immensely. It was refreshing for the main character to be an ordinary woman with weight and self-esteem issues. I will definitely read more by this author.

I picked up this book at a half price bookstore and brought it along on a cruise. The cover read "great beach read" and so I thought I'd throw it in the bag for something "light" to switch to if my current book-club book got boring.
I couldn't put it down! I loved getting to know Cannie, the plus-sized main character in this book. She is smart, and funny, and like many of us, doesn't recognize her own value at first. As women, we put so much value on what size we wear that we often down-play and minimize how wonderful we truly are.
As a BBW myself, I was right there with Cannie, feeling shame about my body and feeling that perhaps I should settle for a man simply because he gave me attention. I laughed out loud at her comments in "fat class" to the skinny know-it-all nurse, and got misty as I read her realization that she wanted to keep her baby, with or without a man in her life.
A surprisingly thought-provoking, great read that would be fun to read with a group of girlfriends and discuss how society, media and our own idea of what is acceptable from our own family upbringing, shapes how women feel about our bodies and ourselves as a whole.

The beginning of the book is ok but drags to the point it makes it difficult to get into. Then it goes to a dark, unhappy place and stays there for too long. However the ending makes up for it and the end result is a relatively decent read. Good for the beach or poolside as it is easy to pick up and put down as needed.

Great book! This was my first Jennifer Weiner book I read and she is now one of my favorite authors. I really felt for Cannie while reading this book. It was refreshing to read about a normal woman with normal weight and body issues that most women face everyday. A great read!

This book had me from the very beginning. I had never read anything by this author and wasn't sure how I would relate to this book. Thing is, had this main character been about a man I would have swore she had writtne it with me in mind. I could so relate to this book.
The whole premise of the book is about the main character, Cannie, and her old flame Bruce, and how she asks him to step back for a moment in their relationship to regroup, only to have him leave and end it. This was her soulmate, the man she had always wanted, though he had his faults. She never realized just what he thought of her until the day she opens a magazine and sees an article by him titled "Loving A Large Woman". Needless to say, she is devastated. Thus begins her journey into discovering who she really is, and where she is heading. Along the way you get to meet her mom who has come out of the closet, a sister who can't decide what she wants in life, a doctor of a "fat clinic" who befriends her......and he is just her caring doctor, right? It is a humorous and wonderful story of betrayal, of self-reflections, and of Cannie self-analyzing herself and her life and growing because of it. Of a self-discovery of a person that she didn't know was there and what her selfworth truly is. A great story, a book that I highly reccomend!

Being a size 16 myself, I can really relate to Cannie Shapiro. I loved to read about her life and feelings. She is a dynamic character and her story, while not a fairy tale, is a very good story about life, loss and love. Very good book!

It took a short while to get into, but glad that I stuck with it. I really enjoyed the book, and the different perspectives it showed of a larger individual's life. She showed a great sense of humor, which was refreshing. One of those books that once started had to finish pretty quickly. So give it a 4 stars!!!

I really enjoyed this book. While not the most challenging read, it is certainly entertaining. The main character Cannie is very funny and sarcastic and even though some of what happened to her during the book was not super-realistic, a lot of it was true to life. It was great to see her really grow up throughout the book. A great quick read.
Is NOT a dirty book, even though it sounds like it. Good self-esteem builder for the "larger" woman. I couldn't put it down. Strong story line that makes you feel like the main character is your best friend.

I am not Jewish nor am I overweight... Yet I found this novel fairly relateable and pretty interesting/entertaining. Extremely well-written, with fully fleshed-out characters. I did find ALL of the Hollywood storyline completely unrealistic, however. But overall, a good escape and a great insight from a talented writer.

While I was reading this book it was very humorous for me to be carrying around a very brightly-colored book titled, "Good in Bed". The title is rather misleading if you aren't reading the book, which brought about many curious questions to my tastes in literature.
I really enjoyed this book, mostly because Cannie was the perfect leading character to me. I've never related to a fictional character as much as I relate to Cannie and it was a very refreshing thing to see an author be so candid and honest about a plus-sized woman and her day-to-day struggles. Now, of course, we don't all have the luck that Cannie has when she meets and befriends a famous actress, sells her screenplay, and meets a financially stable Doctor that adores her...but it's still enjoyable enough for me to look past that and enjoy the book.

I am somewhat surprised that I really liked this book. At first it seemed like a typical chick-lit: a girl crying over her ex-boyfriend and so forth. Towards the end, however, the book took a sudden turn and became an almost a self-help guide on how to re-discover the little things that makes us happy. The whole "you can't change the things that affect your life, you can only change how you react to them" would be something that you'd hear in a therapy session, but presented in this book, in its format, felt more like it was said to you by a very close friend.

This book was an inspiration to any woman who has felt less than amazing because of her physical state or her strange background! I laughed, cried, and felt like the author was writing about MY life in several places throughout the book. It was such a refreshing read - to remind ourselves that life isn't always sunny, but eventually the clouds give way and there's blue sky again! I've read this book at least three or four times now. I'm waiting on the second book with the character Cannie Shapiro now. Can't wait to read it and see where life has taken her now!!

I loved this entire story. There wasn't a point where I felt the author was just writing to keep the story going. I was completely drawn in by the main character, Cannie. As a man, I like to read chick books, to help me understand a woman's perspective. I'll admit it, the "Good in Bed" caught me eye too. The author's plot has some surprising good twists & turns. It really helped me to understand how an overweight woman can struggle with her body, & how her body affects her self-image as well as how others respond to her & see her. I think other guy's would also appreciate a good story about a young overweight woman's struggles & joys in her relationships with others.
The Q & A section at the end was good to see who Weiner based her main characters on & why she chose some elements of the plot.
Overall: a good read.

I didn't expect to really like the main character, Cannie, so very much. It's a wonderful story about learning to love who you are no matter what your size. And some of the writing is just down right, raucously FUN!! I laughed out loud on several occasions loud enough that my coworkers were peeking around the corner of my cube to see what got me so tickled! Treat yourself to this book!

This book is better than I expected. I thought it would be a nice, fluff read. Although it was indeed an easy read, it is actually a well-written, insightful and extremely funny book. There is quite a bit about sex -- as is suggested by the title -- but I believe the title is misleading, as the book is more substantive than the title would have one believe. I would say that the book is more about a funny, intelligent girl with a weight problem, who has her share of neuroses and is trying to make her way in this crazy world that we live in.

Good in Bed is the story of Cannie Shapiro an over-weight feisty and humorous reporter. After she initiates a break with her boyfriend of 3 years she reads an article by him in a national magazine about loving a larger woman. The article becomes the catalyst for Cannie to lose weight and get her old boyfriend back. Cannie has many funny and insightful moments which makes her story a pleasure to read.

As a larger woman, I thought that because of size alone, I would relate to Cannie. Truth is, I think any woman can relate to Cannie. Her ups, her downs, her view of her body and her life - she is pieced together by all the women in the world. Her journey, from heartbreak to job success and back again, sweeps you up and refuses to let go until the very end. This book is one of the best I read this year, and I highly recommend it to everyone.

This book was flat-out wonderful. I loved watching Cannie deal with her demons - her absentee father, her cad of an ex, her weight issues, her arch enemy in the newsroom, her well-meaning but quirky friends - and to handle them with real, honest-to-God humanity. This is not a plastic character who bounces back from mistakes like she can handle anything. How refreshing! This is a character who is so REAL, I wished I had her phone number.

Cannie is a 28-year-old Philadelphia Examiner reporter preoccupied with her weight and men, but able to see the humor in even the most unpleasant of life's broadsides. Even she is floored, however, when she reads "Good in Bed," a new women's magazine column penned by her ex-boyfriend, pothead grad student Bruce Guberman. Three months earlier, Cannie suggested they take a break apparently, Bruce thought they were through and set about making such proclamations as, "Loving a larger woman is an act of courage in our world." Devastated by this public humiliation, Cannie takes comfort in tequila and her beloved dog, Nifkin. Bruce has let her down like another man in her life: Cannie's sadistic, plastic surgeon father emotionally abused her as a young girl, and eventually abandoned his wife and family, leaving no forwarding address. Somehow, Cannie stays strong for family and friends, joining a weight-loss group, selling her screenplay and gaining the maturity to ask for help when she faces something bigger than her fears. Weiner's witty, original, fast-moving debut features a lovable heroine, a solid cast, snappy dialogue and a poignant take on life's priorities. This is a must-read for any woman who struggles with body image, or for anyone who cares about someone who does. ~ Copyright 2001 Cahners Business Information, Inc.
I have fallen in love with Jennifer Weiners style. I saw so much of Cannie in myself it was almost uncanny (no pun intended) at times! I too am a larger woman and this book taught me that larger women are indeed capable and deserving of love and the good things in life. I related to these characters and this story. Extraordinary things happen to Cannie, all of them of her own making and because she always has the power, even when things go wrong, to look on the bright side and revel in the love of her family and friends. Despite the fact that this review sounds like a gushing teenie-bopper drama, the book is anything but and is a must-read for any woman who has ever had self-esteem doubts.

I loved it. the story basically starts off with Cannie separating from her boyfriend of 3 years. She finds out that he has written an article about her and its title is no less then "Loving a Larger Woman" can you imagine what life is like after someone actually writes about you like that? Its not enough she has dealt with her size on her own, but to see it in print and have her intimate details out for the world to see! She begins a remarkable journey that doesn't end in the perfect ever after, but still good enough that we can wake up tommorrow encouraged by the fact that it is another day and a new adventure awaits... Its up to you to make it a good or a bad day...

I liked most of the book. I liked the plot, and most of the characters in the story... I just kind of felt that the main character did many stupid things that a normal person would have thought twice about (like sleeping with her jerk of an ex), and Cannie is so caught up in herself and the bad things that were happening to her at the end of the book I kept thinking that she was going to have a complete breakdown, and one of her friends should have put a stop to it sooner. It was frustrating to read as she kept spiraling down further and further in self pitty.

I did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I did. I picked it up mostly because I kept seeing the author's name and so felt obligated to read at least one; I was quite rewarded. Weiner's writing is very clever and snappy, yet it doesn't insult the reader. She makes you care very much for her heroine; Cannie feels very real in her personality and in how she reacts to her situations. Unfortunately, those situations are cliched - not many surprises here - and the supporting characters are quite two-dimensional (the good guys are really good, the bad sympathetic yet unredeeming) and some of Cannie's adventures read more as a daydream than a realistic experience (what you'd want to have happen vs. what would). Give Weiner a truly-experienced story and I'll bet she'd knock it out of the park. Regardless of the minuses, however, I recommend "Good In Bed", a very enjoyable read.

This is about getting through life's ups and downs, learning to ask for help when you need it, and learning to love yourself exactly as you are. Not a self-help or preachy kind of book. Good in Bed just tells the first person account of "Larger Women" and how she gets on with her life.

My only problem with this story that I kept asking myself was "Why does she love this Bruce guy?" He was obviously a pot smoking loser. I just didn't see why she wanted to be with him so much. He wrote such nasty things about her in his magazine column and he obviously didn't love her back. Just never got that aspect of the story. Other than just being insecure about her self and her low self-image and having daddy issues. I just couldn't relate, I guess.
Other than that, I thought it was a wonderful story about a insecure woman who had had some terrible bad luck and some tough decisions to make about her life. I loved how it ended and I would highly recommend this book to any of my friends.

I found it weird that this woman kept calling herself fat. Maybe I miss understood, but I thought she said she was a size 16. I don't think that is fat. I am smaller than a 16, so maybe I don't get it. Other than that, I thought the book was good.

I absolutely loved this book. The main character Cannie was such a breath of fresh air. It was nice to see the main character be a woman who was not perfect looking and had issues with her appearance. I think that most women could relate to her. She was real, honest, and someone that if she was a real person, I would want to meet. This book made me cry, laugh and just get angry, just like Cannie did. I think that anyone who reads this book will enjoy it just as much as I did.

This was a fun read that will uplift those, like me, who suffer from self esteem and self image issues

I loved this book! Quick read. At first I thought Cannie was a ... uh ... you know ... the B word, but as I got to know her and her family (can you say Dr. Phil Show dysfunctional?), I understood where she was coming from. Good palate cleansing.

I really enjoyed this book and the story about a woman who is not a six 6, or even size 10. Getting over a jerk of an ex and going on to be successful and find happiness even through a very difficult time was inspiring and interesting reading. Couldn't wait to see what happens next. This is a great chick book and a good, entertaining read. Loved it.

Fantastic book! Made me laugh and made me cry. Could not put this book down! Almost hate... No really hate the idea of reposting this book but it has to be shared. It's that good. As a former larger woman I could absolutely relate to her main character but I believe any man or woman can feel a relation to her pain and joy and enjoy this book!

Starting to think that Jennifer Weiner simply cannot write a bad book. Love this one! Can't wait for my copy of Certain Girls (Cannie Shapiro, Book 2) to arrive in the mail. I started Good In Bed and was completely hooked. Stayed up until 2:30 in the morning to finish it. Great Book! Bring the tissues...

I thought this would be a light, fun, chic-lit book, but it turned out to have a lot more going on.The main character has some issues and there's quite a bit of exposition on them before we get to the happy ending we know is there. Pretty fun to read, though, overall.

Wildly funny and surprisingly tender. Overflowing with colorful characters, from Cannie's bitchy co-worker to her late in life lesbian mother to her rat terrier dog named after an unmentionable body part. And of course there is Cannie herself-a very real woman whom you'll cheer for right up to the last page.

I love, love, loved this book. It was refreshing to see a heroine who was reflective of my life and experience, and who wasn't a waif. Her problems were those that I have had and struggled with as well, for the most part. This book was wonderful. I laughed and I cried. I look forward to reading more from this amazing author.

Hands down my favorite Jennifer Weiner book. I love everything about Cannie Shapiro; it feels like Jennifer poured her heart and soul into Cannie's character. I have read this book at least 5 times and I love it even more each time. I think it's awesome that Cannie is the kind of woman who takes life on the chin and keeps going. She's an inspiration to me!

Maybe I'm missing something here, or a lot of somethings, but honestly I didn't find this one to be nearly what it's cracked up to be. I read it expecting...Well, y'know, a couple of feel-good archetypes smooshed together, with plot twists to crash into and cry over, but clear up in the face of Cannie's indomitable spirit, and obstacles that I could imagine throwing myself at with determination and good cheer aplenty.
It's like the skeleton of the story, the one that's never as important as the gist -or, perhaps, soul- were put in place with that notion, but with an undertone that I couldn't help comparing to something like She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb.
Everyone follows the motions, with a -somewhat- happy ending, but I was left with the same feeling of vague misery and slight repulsion. Nothing concrete enough to put my finger on, but enough to twist my mood a little whenever I think about it.
Maybe this is just my reaction to 'real' stories in general, and I'm better off sticking to unlikely and delightful, but I'm convinced that, somewhere, there's a middle ground that doesn't make me feel a little queasy.

Amazing book. I've read it over and over again b/c I like it so much. Jennifer Weiner is an excellent writer and is so completely honest. She says what we're all thinking.

LOL and cried as well in several spots. Being a large woman this book touched many personal awful scenarios for me. Wish I'd read it when I was a young woman so relevant. Now at 72 I can only wish I'd had this example when I was younger.
Well written and other than being embarrassed by the title and not wanting to carry it with me, I found the book was an enjoyable read. Highly recommend, especially if you want light reading.

I love this book. Candice Shapiro is every plus sized woman's hero! Her sharp wit and sense of humor make this book one good read. Jennifer Weiner is an excellent writer and has inspired me to take writing classes. Thanks Jennifer, yet again, for another great book!
Couldn't put it down. Jennifer has a real knack for character development and describing human relationships. Highly recommend this book along with it's sequal which I will post here when I am done reading!
This book was so much fun. I liked the interview with Jennifer Weiner at the end of the book. Intriguing.
Funny. Honest. The protagonist, Cannie, is someone I would love to have as a friend.
This was a very quick read. Some parts are unrealistic and some minor repetitive details took away from the book but overall, it was a humorous and entertaining book. In terms of movies, this is your basic run of the mill romantic comedy.
This is the first book I have read by this Author. I really enjoyed it, not complex, but touching. The main character is a normal sized woman with a fat woman complex. I enjoyed it!
A cute, easy read.
Definitely good for the beach or a rainy day!

Good holiday reading with a few nice twists and satisfactorily delivers.
really cut, easy read!
Very fun read!
First book I read by Jennifer Weiner...I have read two more since and have enjoyed them all. Chick Lit at it's best!
I loved it. At first, it was somewhat cheesy, but the plot changed course and got interesting quickly. A great summertime read.
Pretty typical chic lit - I heard so many great things about this book. I liked the first half, but struggled to get through the second. Not my favorite.
The first few chapters were a little slow for me and then I could not put it down. I kept rooting for Cannie. Great read!!
What a wonderful book about a full size woman who goes on a journey - learning to love, forgive and just be who she is.
If you like Jennifer Weiner--and if you saw the movie "In Her Shoes" you probably do, you will like "Good in Bed." The book is funny and moving and very absorbing.
great funny story. I couldn't put the book down.
Jennifer Weiner does it again!! I love this book and the main character Cannie!! It was so nice to read a story about a real woman with real problems. Great story line and wonderful characters!
I really loved this book,I couldn't put it down. The charactors are wonderful and it kept me involved.
Loved this Jennifer Weiner book, also. She is among my favorite authors. True to life and feelings kind of author.
Very cute story! I like that it wasn't predictable. I recommend it to anyone who likes chick lit. (romantic and funny)
Good book, fun read. Great humor in main character. Not "amazing" but enjoyable. I will admit to both laughing and wiping a tear or two. :-)
Loved the book, very fast reading.
fun read, funny and quick to get thru!
This book is exceptionally cute and is a great read for anyone who is interested in chic-lit. I picked the book up not knowing anything about the author and am really happy that I did, it keeps your interested and entertained the whole way through. As a matter of fact we now have a kitten named from the book due to my husbands sense of humor. I am sure it will be enjoyed.
LOVED IT-COULDNT PUT IT DOWN!!
Absolutely wonderful story of a "larger" woman and what she learns about herself. It all starts when her ex-boyfriend publishes a magazine story about loving a larger woman. A great book!
This is Weiner's best! So fun to read!
Good story, quick read. A little far-fetched but entertaining.
I enjoyed In Her Shoes much more
Great beach read
Excellent book!
I found myself thinking of Cannie (the main character) during my day. I was laughing out loud, then my heart was aching, then I was laughing again! Great read!
From what I remember of this book it was cute and quite funny. If you've read Jennifer Weiner before I don't think you'll be disappointed...
Better than I expected. The story takes a few turns I wasn't expecting. Really good!
One of my favorites! I have read this book three times and still enjoy the story. It is a wonderful tale of a woman finding and loving herself.
Good book. Very witty humor. It was a nice change from what I normally read.
One of my favorite Jennifer Weiner books!
Another great read by Jennifer Weiner!
Fun, descriptive, insightful. Some implausible scenarios, but overall a good read. I did skip a chunk in the middle and caught up with no trouble later. Interesting thoughts about being "a larger woman". Now I want to go to Philadelphia for the good restaurants!!!
This book was a great read...very real thoughts.
Fun & well-written!
Amusing beach read!
I really enjoyed this book as well as all her other books
Good book and fun to read.
I did not expect to like this book but I adored it. It's so much fun to read that when I finished reading it, I got my mom and my sister hooked on Jennifer Weiner. You'll like this even if chic-lit isn't your cup of tea.
This was one of the best books I've ever read. The characters are so believable and so well-written. I am officially hooked on Jennifer Weiner!
Great read...very funny!
Good book!! Exciting, really drew me in!
Great story. Easy read. I wish Jennifer Weiner would write more about this character.
Fun read.
Funny and good story-telling.
Excellent! You will not be disappointed!
I made the mistake of trying get through this in audiobook format. Not my best choice. I would bet that this book is easier to get through if you are actually reading a hard copy. However, the narrator in the audio version is so whiny that it made it difficult to listen to. I don't often listen to books on cd because of that very reason. I hope that others have a better experience of this one than I did!
This was by far the best book I had read in a long time! I enjoyed the frankness of the struggles the character went through with family, weight, her age, etc....I read this over 5 yrs ago and have been searching for a book as good since!!@!!
This is another good one from Weiner. I don't think it is her beat but very enjoyable none the less. Cannie is funny and sweet and I found her to be entertaining enough to hardly put the book down. A fun read for sure!
This is my first Jennifer Weiner read and I'm hooked! I hope there is a sequel to this book, because I love the main character Cannie. She is SO real. There is a bit of her in all of us. You will not be disappointed.
This is a fun book. A light easy read and I would definately suggest reading the follow-up, Certain Girls. There are lots of twists and turns that keep your interest peeked and keeps you thinking about your next chance to sit and read for a while.
the begining of the book rocks!
The rest how ever is not what its crack up to be...

What I liked
1-It was entertaining.
2-Quite often, I found myself rooting for her.
What I didnt like
1-I couldnt relate to Cannie (main character). She seemed juvenile based on how I was at the same age.
2-I couldnt suspend my disbelief for some of the events. They seemed to good/bad to be believed.
Its not terribly complex so I would recomend it to those that just want to 'go away' for awhile.

LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I identified with the main character and found myself rooting for her the whole time. I thought it was funny and sweet. I also liked the other characters in the book. I thought the story was interesting pretty much the whole way through.
Jennifer Weiner's book was actually a popular choice around the office. While this was still a good read she isn't one of my top authors. However, this still has a good storyline.
I've read this book twice before - and it's a fast chick lit read. The ending part with The Pusher gets me every time, though, overall, it is not a book worthy of deep emotions. It is rather implausible and the main character is, well, selfish and just doesn't seem like that good of a person, though she is supposed to be - or maybe it's just that I shouldn't have read this book more than twice because I am nit-picking now. I know I really adored it the first time I read it... and I am still looking forward to the sequel...
Great book about a young woman who finally comes to terms with not only her size, but her self-worth. Will re-read, and have given copies to my sisters. It is not about the character's size or weight, but the fact that she realizes that she is worth morethan previously thought, even though the people that she holds most dear may not realize it.
After several chapters, I could have sworn I'd read this before. I don't know if I had started it once and put it aside or maybe it's the predictability of the plot, but there's a lot of familiar story lines and some pretty unbelievable twists. Unbelievable in that no one's life is that lucky. Guess that's the beauty of fiction! Great for those lazy summer days when you just want to read without thinking much about it.
I liked this book a lot. I have read most of her books, and I really like the way she describes characters. This book is funny and real. I think anyone could relate to the feeling of not being wanted and the feeling of not being in control and just flying by the seat of your pants.
not at all what the title would suggest, this book is about relationships, maturity, and success as the best revenge. Cannie, the main character, has an ex boyfriend who writes a column called "good in bed". after she breaks up with him he begins writing columns about her starting with one about what it's like to have a fat girlfriend. she's humiliated as her friends and associates recognize the subject as her. loved it. highly recommend.
At first, I cringed at Cannie's behavior with her ex, her insecurity, her desperation for approval from her father, and was a little put off because I had this notion that a heroine in a novel should be, well...heroic! Better behaved and wiser than myself in ways I aspire to. Then I realized the reason Cannie is so relatable is that she is an everywoman, who makes the same mistakes and thinks the same thoughts as everyone else does. I ended up rooting for her and was sorry the story had to end, although I'm not sure I liked it as well as In Her Shoes. Regardless, a great story by an author who seems to "get it."
Gosh, not quite sure what to say about this book. It took me forever to get into it. The book went on and on about how miserable Cannie is as a "fat" woman. After just 10 or so pages, I was tired of hearing about her being fat. I forged on and ended up finishing the book. By the end, I had a little more sympthy for Cannie and was impressed by her willingness to search for happiness and eventually find it. She was likable By the end of the book.
I have the second book in this set, "certain girls", but hve chosen not to read it. I have listed it on this site and another reader has requested it, so out of my house it goes. This is the first author I've read in a while that I won't be reading any more of her books.

This was an amazingly written story about a wonderful 'plus' sized woman who goes through a lot. It was a really well written; i cried, i laughed, got pissed, i got happy! All in all I am super happy that I choose this to add to my bookshelf. I just picked up the second on "Certain Girls" and I am already deeply emerged within it's chapters.

This was a pretty good book, but I just couldn't get into it. I can't really pinpoint what it was but there was nothing to keep me from putting the book down. Usually, if a book is good, I can't stop reading it, so in 2-3 days max, I'm done. This book couldn't keep my interest and it took about 2 weeks to finish and even then I was forcing myself.
This book wasn't a total loss and it made me laugh once or twice. I give the book 3 stars because it was decent, but not one I would ever remember to recommend to anyone.
On a seperate note, having this book in my living room when company came over raised a few eyebrows. The title was a great conversation piece.

A truly lovely book, a perfect 'chick' book. Sweet, sad, a great read. You'll start out intending to read a chapter or two, and end up finishing the entire book, you won't be able to put it down.
This book is definitely chick-lit, but it wasn't all light and fluffy like I thought it would be; instead it got pretty deep towards the end, tackling some serious issues. I wish I could tell you what those issues are, but that would seriously spoil the whole thing for you should you decide to read it.
Cannie Shapiro is an overweight journalist struggling to get over her ex-boyfriend. Along the way she joins a weight loss study, meets celebrities (as part of her job), travels to Hollywood to sell a manuscript, still struggles to get over the ex-boyfriend, tries to make sense of her father's abandonment, and then some bigger things happen. Remember the issues I can't tell you about? Well, it's big and serious, and executed excellently.
Weiner is a great writer. And I don't just mean in the "good descriptions and character development" way, though she does that well, too. More importantly, Weiner knows how to write a humorous novel while simultaneously tackling a serious woman's issue and have the ending wrap up in a satisfying, not cliché way. In case you haven't guessed, I was very impressed with the way Weiner took a traditional chick-lit topic and used it to tackle a more serious plot.
The book is almost ten years old (omg, where did this last decade go!?) so the references are outdated, but it was fun to look back at them. Overall, I'm glad to have finally read this!

I loved this book. I thought it was a great story with a wonderful plot and a super ending. Will read more Weiner books for sure!
Takes a long time to get going as the main character is pretty depressed and almost whiney. Just as I was ready to give up on it, the book finally kicked off and had a nice story.
I stopped at page 124. Did the book really get any better?
I found what I read boring, repetitive, frustrating. Disappointing because I have read and liked some of the author's other books.

This book reminds me of an easy, beach book. However, Jennifer Weiner is not just a fluff writer. Her characters are very in depth. The story takes many wonderful twists and turns. I found myself laughing, smiling, and crying. This book is a fantastic book and what a way for her to begin her great writing career.
I loved this story! Being someone of NOT the supermodel build... Cannie's journey was so true. I know how she felt as I have been there too. Wonderfully written and a good paced book. I so recommend it.
I like Jennifer Weiner a lot and this is my favorite of her books!
a must read if you like her boks...this is the first, so if you like following novels...start! This is about a twentysomething overweight woman dealing w/ boyfriend issues and career cjoices...but it all works out somehow for Cannie!
I really liked this book...I actually like everything Weiner writes. Her stories are non-fiction, but at the same time they are stories people can relate to. I found Kat (the main character in this book) to be likeable and very realistic. She is flawed, but still beautiful. Her story made me laugh and cry. This book was great!
Great beach book!

Such a good book! I couldn't put it down and got sucked into the story quickly. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good chic lit story.
This book is wonderfully perceptive and descriptive regarding being plus-sized. Chick lit, but better. Recommended to me by my 70-year-old mom and I recommended it to my 23-year-old daughter.
I find Jennifer Weiner's book fun and easy to read. I become involved with the characters and want to know what's going to happen next. This one kept me going to the end. It's not the kind of book you can't put down, for that you need to read "Water for Elephants" but it is worth reading for something light and fun.
I have read a lot of good things about this author, so I decided to read this book. It started off extremely slow and at point I thought "I just don't want to read this anymore". It was so boring!!! Once I hit chapter 9 and then on after, I couldn't put it down!! It was such a great story from chapter 9 until the end. I wanted to scream, I cried, I got mad, I was happy. It was incredible writing, it was like 2 different people wrote the book because it got amazingly great at the end. That's why I never put a book down no matter how bad I may think it is, it always surprises me how good it can actually get.
a witty contemporary Cinderella tale-a must read

Lots of fun. Jennifer Weiner keeps yiu laughing.
i absolutly loved the main character. A wonderful story
This was a fun read and I really enjoyed the story.
I liked how Cannie deals with her life's triumphs and tragedies with humor and grace.
I found myself drawn into her life and rooting for her to succeed and see the love that actually surrounds her rather than the love that left her.
Despite the possible cliche-ness of it, I did like the ending of the story as well.

Very good. I really identified with the main character.
We read this in our book club. It's a good story. Most of us were rooting for the main character, Cannie, to be able to boost her self-esteem by the end of the book.
Good in Bed is my favorite book from Weiner. I couldn't put it down. It was like listening to a friend tell about her day. Excellent read.

Excellent Book. Perfect ending for the story.
Fast, fun read.
Another Weiner winner!
I laughted, I cried (a lot). Such a good read and finally the major character is not a stick thin model type.
An overweight newspaper writer deals with her X-boyfriend writing about their love life in a magazine column. 2 stars.
Wow - I just loved this book. I completely identified with the "larger woman" who is the main character. I was actually sad to see the book end - but LOVED every minute of it.
Enjoyable book

Wow! remarkable reading. I loved this one and highly recommend it to everyone!
A good read.
Great read, lots of fun. Cannie decides the hell with what her boyfriend thinks of her, after some public humiliation and decides to accept herself for who she is! Bravo!!!
I totally enjoy this book, the first book I've read by this author. Can't wait to read her other books.
Just posting this book for my wife. She really enjoyed it and told me to give it 4-stars.
This is a book about a real woman, with real problems-entertaining at most times, but like life has it's downs too.
I absolutely loved this book. I laughed and cried the whole way through.
One of the best books I've ever read!
BEST BOOK I HAVE READ IN A LONG TIME! Funny! Sad! I couldn't put it down! LOVED IT!
Nice to have a heroine who is not tall, slim and stunning--well she is tall..
This was by far my favorite of her books. I found that I really connected with her characters. Definitely a fun read.
This is a great read.

A deliciously quick read, this book is the funny, sad, hilarious and inspiring tale of a lady named Cannie and her adventures in Philly, L.A., and beyond. Awesome!
Great Book! This is a perfect read for a girl in their mid 20's early 30's who has ever felt less than perfect.
Great characters, fun book!
This was an excellent book! I could so relate to this character. I was laughing one minute & crying the next.
Really enjoyed this....read it in two days...can't wait to read her next book!
I Really loved this book. It had the perfect mixture of bittersweet moment and ones that had me breathless with laughter. I'm posting it so others can love it as much.
Very witty funny but sometimes sad book about a size 16 heroine.
This was a great read for anyone who has ever struggled with weight issues...it deals with real life feelings of Cannie Shapiro. Weiner does a great job incorporating laughter, tears, and true feelings in this wonderful tale of a Philadelphia writer.
she has written another great book.
This is the best book I read in ages! Especially if you are a larger woman and between the ages of 20-40 this book is a must read.
Excellent story!
I really enjoyed this book. It is an easy read. I found Cannie very funny and a character you can't help but love.
Funny Chick-Lit at its best.
Great book, my first by Weiner and I am now working on collecting all of her others to read!!!
A great book from the perspective of a larger woman in "real" terms of life. I've been through a lot of what she went through and I felt I could relate to her - it made reading the book quick! A great book.
Excellent book and quick, easy read! I loved it!
Funny but still dramatic. Loved the characters. Plus sized main character, so easy to relate to!
Great book. Could not but it down! Highly reccommend it!
Great book! I was sucked in from the first page, and finished it pretty quickly. Cannie is a relatable lead character, because she is very human, not your average cookie-cutter picture of perfection. This was Jennifer Weiner's first novel, but you wouldn't know it from reading it! She's great at engaging a reader from the very start.
A fun read, a good ending.
Wonderful book. It lives up to everything I have heard about it.
Beach Book Queen for a day
Fantastic story and a great introduction to the author Jennifer Weiner.
Chick Lit at it's best. A great beach book for this summer! You'll love it!

It is temping at first but unwise to assume Candace Shapiro is yet another Bridget Jones. Feisty, funny and less self-hating than her predecessor, Cannie is a 28-year-old Philadelphia Examiner reporter preoccupied with her weight and men, but able to see the humor in even the most unpleasant of life's broadsides. Cannie's siblings suffer, especially the youngest, Lucy, who has tried everything from phone sex to striptease. Their tough-as-nails mother managed to find love again with a woman, Tanya, the gravel-voiced owner of a two-ton loom.

Great beach read!
a book club favorite.
Very real (sometimes too much so!), yet better than I had expected.
This light-hearted book takes us on a journey through the love life (or lack thereof)of a reporter with screenplay ambitions. The book is written in first person as Candice shares her inner-most thoughts about her ex-boyfriend, Bruce, who is also a writer. Bruce decides to write about their past relationship to all his readers, beginning with an article titled "Loving a Larger Woman". Candice's sense of humor helps to balance many obstacles that arrise. If you want a quick read with a chuckle along the way, this book fits the bill.
I couldn't put it down! I loved the story line...the characters were down to earth....a great read now I am a fan of Jennifer weiner
Started and finished the book in about 2 days. Once i got into it, I couldn't really put it down. Actually even had me crying (well... tears in the eyes) once...but then again, i'm just a sap.
This is a great, GREAT book. Few books make me cry like this one did, in a really good way! "In Her Shoes" is also a great Jennifer Weiner book.
A great beach read.
Wonderful Jennifer Weiner book. It has a great twist. Will have you laughing and crying. Have read it several times.
It was an all right book. I thought I would laugh more than I did, which I don't think was at all. There were quite a few parts in Cannie's life that I could relate to, so I was in tears for a few parts. Overall a good book
Jennifer Weiner's first and best novel. If you are a woman, you will relate and appreciate this book. It really is a must read!
One of the first books I read by her and I was hooked!
First novel with only a few tiny uneven spots such as the dialog between superstar actress Maxie and Cannie the main character. Gives you enough action without shorting readers on the description. Is really a good romance that has you thinking about how people's childhood experiences affect them forever. Cannie ends up with the good guy in the end but not how you expected it to happen. Highly recommend. You will laugh out loud AND cry.
This book I started to read but it got off so slow that I handed it off to a friend to borrow. After a while I asked if she was actually reading it and she said "Omg you should have kept reading right after the slow part it got so good!" and so I snatched it back and finished reading it. Yes it was good. So much drama in this young lady's (main char.) life it's sad but in the end... well I can't tell you what happens in the end haha!
I got this book after my Mother's Group recommended it and I am glad I did - fun and fast read, Weiner is a likable and realistic character (though her story of success is not typical - though I won't give away what it is!)
I have been trying to read this book for about a month. I keep picking it up and reading a little. It is just not getting my attention to well.
I couldn't put this book down...b/c it's wishlisted and I wanted to pass it on and get a credit! Despite the hype I was very disappointed. It was refreshing to read about a "heavy set" heroine, but the story as a whole was over the top and not believable.
I tend not to read the synopsis on the back cover before diving into a book b/c it often contains too much of a spoiler for my liking. Instead, I take a peak after reading the first third or so of the book. True to form, the synopsis speaks of her trip to Hollywood and back - something that doesn't take place until well into the second half of the book.
Just my two cents...

This author is great, I love her writing. I laughed many times during this story, but it also deals with serious subject matter and I really start to care about the characters.
This was a fantastic story! My only complaint was how often the narrative would suddenly cut to something that happened in Cannie's past. They were important parts to know, but the transitions weren't always the best.
"Good in Bed is a delight, a contemporary Cinderella tale told with intelligence, wit, and style." Ridiculously funny, satirically sad.
I love this book. This is the first of three that she has written. Her latest one is due out this fall. I can't wait!
Drags on in parts, but very funny and quirky in others. I had to skip around a little and still kept up with the story. Others may favor it more, just not my cup of tea.
A great chic book. Easy read. Funny in parts, yet compassionate.
Absolutely fabulous story, beautifully written, highly entertaining-- compelling characters and page-turning plot.
For twenty-eight years, things have been tripping along nicely for Cannie Shapiro. Sure, her mother has come charging out of the closet, and her father has long since dropped out of her world. But she loves her friends, her rat terrier, Nifkin, and her job as a pop culture reporter for The Philadelphia Examiner. Shes even made a tenuous peace with her plus-size body.
But the day she opens up a national womens magazine and see the words Loving a Larger Woman above her ex-boyfriends byline, Cannie is plunged into miseryand the most amazing year of her life. From Philadelphia to Hollywood and back home again, she charts a new course for herself: mourning her losses, facing her past, and figuring out who she is and what she can become.

Loved it. Much more emotional than most "chick lit"
While I preferred "In Her Shoes," this book was a fun, quick read.
Excellent book! Well written, wonderful heroine!
I didn't love this book. Maybe I have just read too much chick-lit this season, but I found myself drifting off through most of the book. Many people really like it, though.
I really liked this book. It was sad in some parts and I was on the verge of tears but overall, a wonderful read!
What a great book!
Within this fun book are some serious themes of love, family, and happiness. It was not quite as light as I had expected, but still very funny in places, and quirky.
One of the better chick lit books out there.
This was a great book. The only thing that bothered me about it was that....well, actually I can't say it w/out ruining it. So...anyways...it was a really great read. There was just one unexpected thing that was not written on the outside of the book that I wasn't looking forward to but it's ok. LOL
I didnt like it...
Great quick read. I laughed out loud at many of the parts. It's due to come out as an HBO series.
I just could not put this book down. It had just the right amout of humor and a few sad moments. Another great book by Jennifer Weiner.
I love Jennifer Weiner! She is funny and honest. This book is fun to read. When life is crazy and busy pick up this book and take a break. Enjoy!

A great book, I highly recomend. The day Cannie Shapiro opens up a national womens's magazine and sees the words "Loving a Larger Woman" above her ex-boyfriend's byline, Cannie is plunged into misery...and the most amazing year of her life.
i loved this book. and don't want to give anything away.
This was a entertaining book. The last half I could hardly put down.
This is an excellent book. Very light and easy reading...right from the first page.
Oh my goodness. I really loved this book! I am so looking foward to getting to her other books on my TBR pile.
Hard to put down! Great read!
Couldn't put it down. A wonderful read for a day at the beach.
I LOVE THIS BOOK... great for anyone who has ever been publicly humiliated by an ex lover.... great read
Just finished this book. Enjoyed it very much.
Cannie (yes, Cannie) Shapiro has made a sort-of peace with her plus-size body, until the day she opens up a national women's magazine and sees the words "Loving a Larger Woman" above her ex-boyfriend's byline. Cannie is plunged into misery, yet it's the most amazing year of her life. She plots her revenge, faces her past and looks forward to the future.
This was a great book, funny yet easy to relate to as well.

Books rarely bring me to cry. This is the second book I've ever read which brought me not only to tears, but heartfelt sobs. Any book that can evoke that type of emotion in me gets my highest rating. A+++++ ! The end was the killer -- about the time the main character was raw and R E A L. The author has definitly walked in these shoes.
My first Jennifer Weiner and I had no expectations except to think this was a common Chik-Lit novel in the same vein of Jane Green or similar. But what I found instead was a very very good, thoughtful read. It is so much more than Chik-Lit. I really enjoyed this and am glad to have read it. I will definitely be reading more by this author.
Wonderful story! Loved it. :)
Loved it!
Very good book - great to read a story about a real life character that has a realistc ending.
awesome book - described by some as a "beach book"
I could really relate to this character!
I could really relate to this character!
This is my first book by this author. Definately a good one. Not an easy beach read, very thought provoking. I silently cheered for the character when things were good, I cried when they were not. I hoped for her to get the things she so desperately needed.
This book deeply moved me and made me love myself a little bit more.
This book deeply moved me and made me love myself a little bit more.
Great story that will make you laugh and cry, just what I was looking for for a great easy read. It's as comfortable as a great romantic comedy for a little escape.
Excellent story- well told and hard to put down.
Very cute, a great beach read! Weiner is very funny and has a very personable writing style.
Great beach read! I went through it very quickly and enjoyed it a lot.
Title is deceiving..but it is an EXCELLENT book. Cammie and her family deal with complex issues and Cammie's struggle to deal with her plus size body is an excellent reflection of our culture's idolization of the model skin thiness. Fantastic book, especially for anyone that has struggled with trying to fit into the media hype of the perfect body!! And its a great funny read also..:) Warm, loving people.
Enjoyed this book...really enjoy all of her books!
My first chick lit and I LOVED this story!
I was slow to like this book, but it is highly enjoyable. The character is believable even in light of some unbelievalbe events. If you are a woman who has ever been unsure of yourself, you will really like this book.
I was a bit dissapointed with this book. It seemed too predictable....girl lives miserable life and turns it around. Just not enough umph for me!
This was an easy read. Not what I expected, but still good reading.
Good book. Quick read.
Another winner from Weiner. Great insight into a woman's battle with weight and self esteem. I could relate to every bit of it.
I loved this book!!
I thought this was a fluff book....BUT, it turned out to be a page turner. Wonderful, Marvelous, Excellent!
My wife loved this book.
Beach-read caliber, but a lot better than I thought it'd be!
Weiner's NYT best-selling novel is about a "plus-size" reporter who finds that her ex-boyfriend [also a reporter] is publishing a widely-circulated monthly column about his relationship with a "Larger Woman". Besides the fact that from the first page I was just as outraged as she, some of her ways of thinking and interacting resonated with me and yes, I fell deep into a beach-read. I was skeptical mid-way through, but somewhere along the way I learned to love this book, though that was in no small part because the title freaked my father out.
Loved this book! Love anything by Jennifer Weiner!
Cannie opens a national women's magazine and sees a story called "Loving a Larger Woman". The story is by her boyfriend! (Well, okay, they were "on a break") Enjoyable story, some parts are a bit over the top... the pusher... for example.
I really enjoyed this book. I have read other books by Jennifer Weiner and liked them, but I was pleasantly surprised by this one. The story did not go where I thought it was headed, and it kept me reading to find out more.
Easy to get into to this book. Light, funny, and very entertaining.
OH MY GOODNESS! I am so emtionally connected to this book, I do not really want to give it up! It is a story written with such wit and hubris. Cannie Shapiro is the main character, but she could so easily be any young woman trying to make a life for herself. I connected to this character in so many ways. I did not want to put it down and was sad when it was over. I am ready to read all of Jennifer Weiner's books!
Loved it! Extremely entertaining and surprisingly well written--a fun read!
This is my favorite of the Jennifer Weiner books I've read thus far. A good fluffy read.
Weiner is a fun writer. This is her first book. It is a good read, and she only gets better with each subsequent book. If you ever get a chance to go to one of her book readings, go--she is hilarious!
Great leisure read..I actually learned something about myself from it!
While this book is a tad bit more racy than the books I normally read, the back story totally makes up for it. In this book you will find a character that every woman can identify with. A wonderful read.
Predictable or no, this book did something to me. As a fat chick who's been a fat chick for 35 years, this book told me that it's ok to accept myself for who I am regardless of what anyone or everyone else thinks of me. I'd recommend this book for anyone who has trouble with self acceptance.
This is my favorite Jennifer Weiner novel. Cracked me up and I really felt for the character.
Very funny main character Cannie tells a story about love, work and friends. Hard to put down.
Definitely a good chick-lit book! Highly recommended!
great read!!
Great book and story! I finished this one and got her next book, In Her Shoes...
Cannie emerges as one of the most engaging, realistic female characters in years...(Grade:) A... Entertainment Weekle
This was thoroughly enjoyable!
Great author of Chick Lit. Lots of quirky characters in this book.
I've heard alot about Jennifer Weiner's work, including the second novel of her's that was made into a movie called In Her Shoes. This book Good In Bed has as the heroine a true life woman who is "larger than life." It is refreshing to read a good story with a real woman as the center.
Wonderful book. I hope it's the first in a long line of real-women books from Weiner.
great book
Great entertaing read.
Cannie is so lovable, and reminds me so much of myself in certain ways. This was one of the best books Ive read in ages!
A great book full of thrills.
This was a wonderful story. Funny, dramatic and one every girl can relate to even if you aren't necessarily a "larger woman." We've all had our hearts broken and Cannie shows us it really all can be wonderful in the end!
Fun read-Great beach read!
Loved this book. Mostly realistic account of a journalist confronting after-breakup feelings and self-esteem issues around weight. Very funny too.
I believe this is the first book that Jennifer Weiner wrote. The writing is smooth, funny and touching. A fun, read that leaves you satisfied.
I LOVED THIS BOOK! I could totally relate to a lot of what happens in this story. It really was a great book!!!
I thought this was a real good book. I had trouble putting it down and I finished it in only a couple days.
Great character development and fun story. A good beach book.
I loved this book. Cannie Shapiro who is a little heavy and her boyfriend decide to take a break in their relationship, but she sees a column in a major magazine written by him saying "Loving a Larger Woman". From that moment on it is Cannie's desire to not only get even with this old boy friend, but to lose weiight and make him jealous because she will be so model skinny! But wait - there is a bun in the oven. How does she handle this?
I loved this book. It is an all time favorite. I highly recommend this read, especially to those out there that are on the "plus" side of life. :)
Good book. The characters were realistic and likable.
A fun read! You'll laugh and you'll feel sad for Cannie and her struggles.
Good for when you're feeling down about life...heroine conquers-all sort of book.
A lovable underdog sotry
"Good in Bed is a delight, a contemporary Cinderella Tale told with intelligence, wit, and style." Susan Isaacs
A fun read.
really enjoyed this one. great road trip book.
I really enjoyed reading this book. The author speaks to the heart of every woman in our society.
Cute story..very chick lit
Getting pregnant fixes everything? I don't think so.
What a fun book to read!
A wonderful book! Keeps you entertained from beginning to end! Never a dull moment! This book is a mixed range of emotions, lots of twists and turns, a must read!!
I loved this book I dont know anyone who hasn't felt some of the feelings of cannie shapiro
Fun, funny, easy summer read
My favorite book of all times. It is hilarious.
I love Jennifer Weiner's books. I actaully started with In Her Shoes and had read all of her books, except this one, her first novel. It may be my favorite one by her. Very enjoyable and satisfying.
I loved this book! It was at times laugh out loud funny.
I enjoyed this story about a woman, who happens to be plus sized. Worth the read.
Great book!
Cute, an easy read....delightful.
I enjoyed this one but still liked "In Her Shoes" better. My friend liked this one the best........enjoyable reading.
Great book, easy, fun read
It took me awhile to get into this book, but when I did I couldn't put it down, it was a nice story....
great book i read it in 2 days it was hard to put it down
Good quick and easy read!
Good in Bed by Jennifer Weiner begins with the main issue of body image. It gets sidetracked with a lot of other happenings like family changes, career changes, and personal changes. That initial focus on women dealing with body image get lost within a main character who sounds self-indulgent at times and a Hollywood plot that is a little too over the top. Perhaps, I over analyze, but this was not the book for me.

Very good Book ..i have it avabiable if any one wants to read it....
A bit awkwardly written
Great book, very funny, Jennifer is a great author.
LOVED this book!

I love Jennifer Weiner's books. Much more than just a beach read but easy reading none the less. I love her outlook on life and wish that more women were as honest and open about things!
Well written & intelligent, but for at least the first half I was annoyed by Cannie's pining for Mr. So Very Wrong. Then I laughed, cried, and laughed some more, so by the end I really liked this book.

Every 18-35 yr old girl should read this book. I love the way Weiner develops the character. I feel like Cannie is MY friend and I want to give her a hug.
I'm going against the tide here, I though this book was horrible and couldn't even finish it. Too cliche and way too predictible for me.I was yearning for a main character that was a "real curvy woman", but this character jsut annoyed me.
This was a fun read, but not quite what I expected. Weiner is an entertaining writer, but the second half of the book was filled with one too many "storybook endings".
This book is not my usual type of story, but it was the type of story that once you start it, you had to finish it. Very good.
Quite the enjoyable summer time read.
What a fun read.. I read from cover to cover in less than 2 days... fun fun fun.. :))
Good chick lit!
This is my favorite Jennifer Weiner book. I just love the main character.
Entertaining and fun. Great beach type read.
great beach read!
This book was both funny, at times sad and moving.
A great read! I could barely put it down and finished it in two days. This would make a great movie.
Hilarious and heart-breaking. I love Cannie, and can identify with her and her issues. Great book, as is Certain Girls, the sequel to this.
I well written hularious easy read book.
Xmas Wishlist Gift Game book.
A terrific read...won't spoil it by giving a precis of the plot. Let's just say it is chick-lit at its best! And I don't usually read chick-lit.

I loved this book. The character was lovable and relatable. I couldn't wait to read more by this author.
Overall a great book. The plot line ends up being a little heavier than I would have liked, but it was definitely a page turner.
Not what I anticipated! Very pleasantly surprised.
Absolutely loved this book!!!
Candace Shapiro, Cannie, who recently dumped her ex-boyfriend, Bruce, discovers, to her horror, that she is the star of his monthly Moxie magazine column, 'Good in Bed,' in which he writes, in detail, what it was like 'Loving a Larger Woman.' After reading the article, Cannie begins to feel that dumping Bruce was a big mistake and she desperately wants him back. A brief reunion with Bruce after his father's death changes her life forever. Cannie moves on with help from her family and friends. She enrolls in a weight management program, where she meets the wonderful Dr. K, befriends Maxi, a famous actress, sells her screenplay, and, eventually, gets over Bruce. This was another enjoyable book by Jennifer Weiner with great supporting characters, family, friends, and, of course, the dog Nifkin. I would recommend this book to those who enjoy happy endings!
Really enjoyed; the character is not perfect, which makes her believable and enjoyable. Great reading.
I think Jennifer Weiner is a great author. I loved In Her Shoes and this book was also very good. The story was interesting and unpredictable. Just a lot of fun!
This is one of the best witty books ever!!! Loved it!!!
Excellent read. Very likeable characters & storyline.
Cannie Shapiro feels like she is coping pretty well with life. Sure, she isn't currently dating anyone, and she can't stand her mother's lesbian life-partner, and her father deserted the family and never looked back ... but she has a good job writing for the Philadelphia Examiner, good friends, a dog ... then one day she opens up a women's magazine and sees an article titled "Loving a Larger Woman" written by her ex-boyfriend. Cannie is devastated and humiliated. This is the story of Cannie's life starting from this point forward. It made me laugh and it made me cry - perfect "chic lit"! I liked that fact that Cannie has her ups and downs like a real human being, but she endures.
I liked this book and thought that it was a quick read. I didnt thing that i would like it at first but i was wrong.

Awesome!
What a great book! I wasn't too sure about it when I ordered it, but I am glad that I did.
Slow start but picks up.
I tend to prefer a lighter book but this was a very good read.
Fun, easy read!
Great book!!!!
I enjoyed this book as I do all of Jennifer Weiner's books.
Really Liked It
I really loved this book. I laughed out loud many times - I loved Cannie's wit & sense of humor. I also cried tears of sadness & joy. Really enjoyed it.
I enjoyed reading this book!
I enjoyed this book. It is nice for a change to read about a character who struggles with her weight and how she feels about it.
great though tearjerking end!
Could not finish. Unbelievable story line, had to quit midway through because of the impossibility of it all.
Good book
