Helpful Score: 1
I liked the book, including the well developed characters, the realness of the story, and the quality of the writing. Additionally, I do feel the book satisfies my requirements of completeness, although I'm actually hoping the author follow-ups with a story or another book. Finally, I am not ignoring that Quinn may have perpetuated some stereotypical traits, but I realize that the story was about two specific couples only.
I give the book a rating of 4.5 out of 5.

A straight, married couple with two kids moves next door to a long-term gay male couple in an upscale South Florida gated community. The events that follow was fairly predictable, but still an enjoyable, quick read.
Overall a good book. Two of the characters are well developed, two of the characters are sort of one dimensional until much later. I found that annoying, so rated it as okay instead of great.
The author does take you on a metaphorical journey. Part of it is predictable, and part has somewhat unexpected twists.
Quinn is excellent in descriptions of places and male emotions, with this book I almost felt like I was 'on the set' in Florida.
Don't read this as your first novel by Jay Quinn.
Okay, but not exceptional.
