This book really helped us get our son to sleep. Before we started Kim West's method our 11 month old son was sharing our bed, nursing all night, and had no set bedtime. This was really starting to wear on my husband. So we started to look at different options. I was against letting him cry it out, so after seeing this book on the clearance shelf at the book store I decided to pick it up. I was a little skeptical at first because although this book doesn't advocate crying it out there is some crying involved; however, you are there to comfort them along the way. The book goes though why sleep is important, The Sleep Lady Shuffle, and how to deal with pit falls that happen along the way such as sickness or vacations.
It took about a week for the methods she laid out to work for us. Now we don't have many struggles at all putting our son (18mth) to sleep. On most normal nights I nurse him and while he is still awake I put him in his crib and he rolls over and goes to sleep with no problems or fuss. Overall, this book has really been a blessing. The one thing that I recommend with this book is consistency. Good luck to everyone trying to put a baby/child down for bed; it is really one of those struggles that all parents need to overcome.

This book gives a very detailed plan, broken up by age group to help kids get to sleep, stay asleep, and form good sleeping habits. I really liked how the book was laid out, it was easy to understand and easy to follow, even for a sleep deprived parent.
