I have mixed feelings about this book, but all in all, the average falls on the negative side. The book contains some quite destructive suggestions which no dog owner should even consider to follow. I tried a few, against my own earlier base of experience, only to spend months undoing the damage. Certainly controlling access to water is the worst possible idea found in the book.

Author studied with Barbara Woodhouse. Focuses on understanding your dog and being "fun, fair and firm." Very good.
I thought the book was thorough and well organzied. Perfect for me as a soon to be new doggy owner. Haven't tried the techniques yet, but they seem good.
