Actually wasn't sure about this book. There was a buy 2 for 6 bucks and this was my second recluctant choice. Boy was I wrong about that. Turned out I loved it more than my first choice. (Gone by Jonathan Kellerman.) It's been a while since I sat up all night to finish a book, but this one grabbed me. The characters are in depth and it's hard to know who's who or who to trust. This one kept me guessing and even the ending still has me guessing. (could there be another one in the works?) This is the first time I've read Gardner and if the rest of her books are even half as good I'm going to love them!

WOW!! This book was a great book, but beware it is very graphic with the sexual abuse of children. I would have to stop and put it down a few times just to get the images from my head. I did finish the book however, because it is a good story and it does show how real(unfortunately) child abduction and sexual abuse is. The author even touches on it in the back of the book. She did use true life situations in her book. It is just so sad that this is the kind of world we live in.

FBI Special Agent Kimberly Quincy is five months pregnant and should be cutting back on her work. Instead she is drawn into a case when a hooker tells her that prostitutes are disappearing from the streets and no one cares. Kimberly checks into this and finds Georgia Bureau of Investigation Agent Sal Martignetti is also looking into the matter since finding a package of drivers licenses on his car windshield. All of the women in the photos have not been seen in a long time. Kimberly and Sal join forces to see if they can find enough information to start a task force or if there is actually no crime.
This book was very hard for me to put down. I stayed up half the night reading it. Lisa Gardner has written a riveting suspense story with some great characters. Kimberly has been in a couple of Gardner's books. We get to know more about her and her marriage to GBI Agent Mac McCormack.
This is a dark suspense novel that covers disturbing topics such as child abuse, torture and murder. There are multiple plots and point-of-views in this book including the point-of-view of a man-made monster. All of the multiple plots come together near the end of the book in a very satisfying way. If you are a person who does not like intense disturbing topics (or have a hatred of spiders), you should stay away from this book. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

Wow--this book really creeped me out. Hit close to home perhaps because I have a son.
It's pretty graphic concerning child abuse, so be warned.
However, it is an excellent book and I couldn't put it down, even though it scared the bojeepers out of me.

This book is amazingly written. Be careful, though. If you are a survivor I strongly caution against reading this book. It's so well written that you definitely feel you are inside the monster's mind, reading his thoughts. She doesn't exaggerate, but doesn't soften or downplay any scene. If you skip over the graphic scenes you'll miss the bigger story.
I believe she's earned her rank among the great in authors, but I still wish I'd skipped this book.

Learned more than I wanted to about spiders, but was interesting. This book scared dickens out of me but I couldn't put it down. Got confussing at the end. Just when you think you know what will happen, it doesn't. I would recommed this book.

I found this to be a very dark and disturbing book. I really wasn't sure I wanted to continue it shortly after I started it. However, the author lured me in with the intrigue. I had read three of her other novels previously and liked them. At the end of her book, she states "this is the most violent book I've written" Now - she tells me.

When my husband asked me what I was reading my answer was "A nasty book about the Burgerman who snatches little boys, then turns them into sex slaves as well as kidnaps hookers and tortures them before murdering them". The bad guy also collects and keeps deadly spiders. Definately not the kind of person you want to run into! But the good guys or in this case girl is after him. Kimberly is a pregnant FBI agent who starts getting calls for help on her cell phone. Only friends, family and a new hooker informant have the number so she immediately goes on the alert and the hunt for the caller who sound like a young boy. This is definitely a page turner and not for those who don't like to read violent books.

I just want to say this was the first book I ever read where I had to put it down and go check on my 6 yr old, give him hugs and kisses and say a prayer thanking God he was safe and to keep him safe. This was a very heart gripping book.

He was obsessed with spiders and would have them crawl over the prostitutes, and had them do `things' while the spiders watched. Now one of the girls he frequently hired was gone. Delilah Rose was convinced that the girl was a victim of foul play. While the situation was creepy, Kimberly had no evidence of wrongdoing. She gave Delilah Rose her phone number and sent her on her way. Later when comparing notes with Special Agent Sal Martignetti, Kimberly realized something was afoot. There were several prostitutes missing and it looked like Dinchara was in the middle of it.
Kimberly teamed up with Martignetti. They didn't have a `case' but spent their free time tracking leads. When the leads started piling up, they started tracking the arachnid loving serial killer in earnest.
Say Goodbye is an incredible suspense novel. Dinchara is not your average garden variety serial killer. He's like a spider, spinning its web, drawing you in, and then leaves you dangling. It's creepy in places and downright scary in others. Reading late into the night, I had to stop and check the locks on the door more than once.
Although I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I must offer a word of caution. First off, if you're scared of spiders, forget this book. You won't get past the first chapter. Say Goodbye also covers several social issues such as kidnapping, child pornography, and rape, in graphic detail. If you have trouble reading about those topics you might want to pass on this book.

First let me say that I have read every book by Lisa Gardner and she is an excellent author and this book is no exception. It is well researched, well written, gripping and heart pounding. However, I am a new mom and found the whole theme of pedophilia and child molestation very hard to take (the spiders did not bother me as much). I can see that other reviewers felt the same way. But it really says a lot about Gardner as an author that she can provoke this type of emotional response. I did enjoy revisiting Kimberly and to a lesser extent Rainie and Quincy (who are two of my favorite all time characters). So if you are a Gardner fan and can prepare yourself for a hard read then go for it!

I am a fan of Lisa Gardner and I did like this book as well. The "bad guy" was interesting and kept me guessing throughout. I enjoyed seeing another side of Kimberly.

This is a "can't put down book"! The books deals with child porn, child kidnapping and abuse, so be ware of that.
The author and her wit never fail to draw the reader in and captivate ones imagination. Very carefully crafted story line that wraps itself up nicely in the ending. This story can make you shudder and believe in the darker side that exists in us all.

This was the second book by Lisa Gardner I read and I must say it's my favorite of hers. It's an awesome read and her authentic imagination is just awesome. This was definitely great.

A lock-the-doors scary, up-all-night thriller. Victim begets villian begets victim begets villian... If the neighborhood pedofile doesn't creep you out now, he will after reading this. Good backstory with the FBI agents. Great ending.
Started out pretty good then it just got tedious reading about spiders, which I have no interest, then it got tedious reading about the whiny, self centered, pregnant Kimberly. I don't believe for a minute that the FBI would let a pregnant agent do the things she did.
I haven't quite finished it yet but this is a very good book. Gardner definitely has a knack for putting her readers right in the middle of the suspense.
My least favorite of Gardner's books so far. The spider angle didn't really add much and didn't make all that much sense. The main character is one of those "I have to prove I'm tough by acting like a moron" types. And then there's the graphic torture and rape of children. Ugh. Only finished it so I could move to the next one in the series (which will hopefully be better).
Excellent book ever I've reader.
This book has a interesting mind bending tale that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat reading page after page long into the wee hours of the night. GREAT cast of characters well developed and precise it has a twisted ending that one may get hints of early on but that still makes you shaken in the end.
