Hard to put down once started. I learned so much about being on a grand jury. "A remarkable level of suspense." ... New York Times Book Review

While a bit slow going at first, once I got into the first few pages I could barely put it down. A great read with wonderful details.

There are not only many nice references to law enforcement (police departments up to district attorneys)as well as the court system in general, but also great details about the characters, their lives and their travels.

From the US to China and Hong Kong, this is a book I expected to just "get through" until a Wish List book arrived and I ended up captivated by the characters and their search for justice!

In his most facinating and dimensioned novel so far, Philip Friedman takes the read for the first time beyond the public face of the courtroom, behind the scenes of the only secret proceedings in American jurisprudence--the Grand Jury,
Featuring the personal odyssey of two grand jurors, David Clark and Susan Linwood, and ranging from the intimate streets of Chinatown and New York's downtown court district, to the sleek high rises of Hong Kong and a deserted highway in China where the construction dust is mixed with blood, and back to the closely guarded offices of th DA's Official Corruption Unit, Grand Jury is a towering novel of corruption, conspiracy and courage that reaches all the way to the highest levels of U.S. and Chinese officialdom.
